Description of my philosophy on education
Some teachers are born, some teachers are made. But I can proudly say that I belong to the first category since I come from a teaching family back-ground. Both My grand father and my father were principals of reputed schools. I had a great passion for teaching from my early childhood. I was inspired and greatly motivated to teaching profession thanks to my dedicated Mathematics teacher Mr.Dharmarajan and and my Physics teacher Mr.Swamy Nathan.
After my post-graduation, I started teaching immediately in a school. As I grew with my experience, I evolved myself as a better teacher, enjoying the fruits of success of my teaching-learning strategies, learning from the failures which I tried my best to convert them into success. Teaching at different places gave me tremendous opportunities to learn new things and put them into actual practice.
I enjoy teaching as I love teaching children. I try to discover new method of delivering the content which makes me to think and work out on various teaching learning strategies and which always keep me away from any dull atmosphere. I adopt child-centered teaching-learning process where I give a lot of opportunities for students to actively take part in my class room teaching-learning strategy. I have always felt every teaching class brings me new idea as children themselves contribute to different ways of learning processes. I strongly encourage the students to critically think and thereby infuse scientific attitude in their mind. I invite them to do some research projects on any of the topic which they like and in fact I take the lead to guide them and motivate them to finish their task. One of the chemistry project guided my was awarded “The best” at the National level Science exhibition conducted by Intel Computers, held in Bangalore. I have also guided about more then 20 extended essays out of which many got A grade during my tenure as IB diploma chemistry teacher at Chinamaya International residential school.
“Values can never be taught but they are always caught”. I strongly believe this and hence I always try to teach the values through chemistry. As I deliver a particular content I try to relate the values that I intend the children to easily understand and assimilate them in their mind. In fact I conducted workshops for the teachers of my school where I was previously working based on my different experiences in teaching through value based education and have demonstrated them that how they can actually put them in their class rooms.
Hence I felt that this was the right time that I could contribute something to the present educational system with help of my vision and goal of achieving truly holistic education. Hence I decided to take up the leadership role to complete my accomplishment.
Then I joined as a Principal at APG Matriculation School, Coimbatore. With help of my deep commitment to learn and grow, I strived hard to improve the quality of the school to greater heights. Thanks to my sincere and determined effort, with help of my supportive management, well co-operative staff, committed teachers I was able to convert our school, which was once an ordinary school, into a school, which is now being considered as one of the most recognized and reputed school in terms of academic and co-curricular excellence.
Our school had made tremendous progress in all activities of the school in last two years and in fact our children had performed extremely well in many inter school competitions and obtained ranks at district and state level. I was overwhelmed with joy and happiness when I was successful in obtaining sanction from the Government of Tamil Nadu to upgrade our school from a matriculation school into a higher secondary school during my tenure as principal.
I wanted to be a great motivator who can experiment innovations in teaching learning strategy. I firmly believe in sharing the ideas by which I will be able to form right platform to give an opportunity for my teachers to share their ideas. This would help them to be more creative and accommodative. I wanted to be a leader who helps the people to deliver their work up to their potential and not as a dictator. I do hope that with my committed and devoted and previous rich experience I shall continue to make the teaching learning process more meaningful, enjoyable and everlasting experience.
