As a result of the  Al-Ula Declaration signing that took place at the GCC Summit, direct flights to UAE have begun their operations.

According to Qatar Airways, it began operating double daily flights to Dubai and daily flights to Abu Dhabi from January 28 and 29 respectively.

However, Qatar Airways has announced through its social media platforms that it will be temporarily suspending all booking applications received from the UAE for the next seven days due to rising concerns of the UK government.

South Africa and Rwanda have also been included in the list with the exception of GCC nationals and Resident Permit Holders returning to other GCC countries.

Earlier this week, the airline also announced its target to become the first airline in the Middle East to begin trialing the innovative new IATA Travel Pass ‘Digital Passport’ mobile app, in partnership with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), from March 2021.

The trial will play a vital role in the airline's vision to have a more contactless, secure, and seamless travel experience for its passengers.

The first phase of trials of the ‘Digital Passport’ will be rolled out on the airline’s Doha to Istanbul route, enabling passengers to receive COVID-19 test results and verify they are eligible to undertake their journey.
