there are hooligans in saudi? where?

By britexpat• 25 Nov 2010 19:38
britexpat

I think that is the least of their problems.. in saudi , the interior police dealt with them quite comfortably :O(

By arecel• 25 Nov 2010 19:36

i'm really concern about the hooligans. what will the police do? they can not even properly manage the unruly ones during national day and during sport events.

good understanding of people starts from open-ended discussions to achieve common good.

There is no doubt in my mind that Qatar can host one of the BEST WC's given it's monetary strength.

But the question that looms in everyone's mind is, will they be able to tolerate the boisterous, unruly fans who will flout all the norms of this society?

Will the security forces be able to sustain these crowds at the gates when something goes wrong?

I'd like to be optimistic on this and a lot more, but there is always that element of doubt :-(

That said, I have and will support QATAR's bid :-)

hard-pressed to win at all cost. Precisely the reason the decision was given to certain numbers of people who will vote/decide on it. Ours is to discuss it civilly and avoid badmouthing any side.

The silent majority will always be silent, it's always the opposition who creates the noise and will do anything to get the attention to many extremes! And bad extremes if I may say so!

By genesis• 25 Nov 2010 09:38

I somehow agree with you. I don’t understand why would someone be accused of being disloyal for not supporting the bid. The same goes On Arabic local internet forums, where those who opposes the Bid are called unpatriotic

Still, don’t dictate your thoughts on others as they might see things from another perspective.

Qatar's fundamental morals, principles and integrity can't embrace what the WC usually brings to a hosting Nation, unless it drops it all in 12 years!

A difficult choice for a muslim conservative society, or a decision where the local people have no say!

I was recruited but I fail to see any humour in the fact. Do I consider myself "lucky"? I like my job and was flattered that I am good enough at it that I was sought after. That said, I don't understand why you are "lol-ing" unless you are suffering from dementia.

All I can say with confident is that 2018 will be a Uefa Country and 2022 will be a country from the AFC..:)

Surprise, Surprise - South America's Conmebol federation has came out in support of the joint Iberian bid.

"The 10 countries are agreed to give the vote to Spain," said Conmebol's general secretary Eduardo Deluca.

It's not the decision, but the announcement that i find suprising ...

@ rashid ahmed, spot on mate...there's no link whatsoever between Qatar helping it's neighbours/other Arab countries & hosting the World Cup,two completely separate issues & that's how it ought to be viewed. Nicely put...

True gadarene - thanks for the warning buddy, I sometimes let my emotions and frustrations take over... don't we all? All I can now happily count is my remaining DAYS in this country.

Alumnar ...

I am lebanese, and its my 4th year in QATAR , and never my stay here was because they need me or am waiting the money .

Qatar represent more than that , represent our second home , our new work and challenge which we find the most suitable for us than any other work in a different place, New place , new friends , new style of life .

You might be against some rules , but if you belong to this country you would like to see your goverment do the best for you.

During all my stay here i never witness anything that makes me feel as a lower part .

Instead i also see how Qatar stand next to lebanon and helped him during the last war and how they interfer to make communications between party .

try to go out of your confront zone guys , life isnt just about money and needs.

trust me i feel proud when i see some of my machines build a new tower which i witness since it was on ground. coz i am a part of that growth .

God bless QATAR .

This country accepted WHO as part of this society??? These are the people who say 'don't like it, leave'! You need us and that's why we are here. You pay us big amounts of money to do the qualified jobs you can't do. We do them - you pay us. Business relationship, NOTHING ELSE. You give us no rights apart from the right of being paid for our work. Is that what you call being FAIR?

And caps off please - as they mean SHOUTING! Thank you.

@ Alumnar, what labour abuse?...Qatar champions human rights,it even has the NHRC "National Human Rights Commission" to ensure worker's rights...no such abuse here...

Weather conditions OUTSIDE the stadium?...how does that matter?...The World Cup is about going from your air conditioned hotel room to an air conditioned bus to an air conditioned stadium & back & into bed by 9pm like good boys & girls,so the 45 degree heat & the 85% plus humidity makes no difference now does it?...

Mr. Cameron says the UK is going to clamp down on immigration...so no more dubious South Asians with no knowledge of English & no college (or even high school) degree landing @ Heathrow, flushing their passports down the bog & claiming "political asylum"?...what a shame...

By Alumnar• 24 Nov 2010 21:37
Alumnar

Brit... I am Portuguese, enough said.

Of course I want Portugal and England to get it. I must have been reading with one eye shut, sorry mate. I sure do NOT want Qatar to get it only because it will allow more labour abuse for a number of years and the weather conditions OUTSIDE the stadiums and the kind of life the visitors want to have during the WC will just not happen.

Since many of the shopkeepers who sell these heathen products are Muslim, a special Fatwa will be issued for the duration of the world cup.

(business is business)

The only segregation will be for the french and German supporters or those wearing a Burqa.

You sure?

Alcohol and pork will probably be banned by then so as not to offend the minorities (by then the majorities)

True about the weather though (unless 'global warming' (which doesn't exist) really kicks off in the next few years).

Yes, i did just use brackets within brackets.
