How to watch World Cup 2010?
It's almost that time again...The World Cup is getting closer!
Anyone have information on which channels will show the tournament with English commentary? And details on the subscriptions (cost, where to contact, etc)?
I tried the Al Jazeera Sport website but it doesn't seem to provide much info. Any help is much appreciated. :D
I'd like the answer to this too. I've got AJ chan 1 and 2 but no English commentary there.
Anyone?
Thanks mszubair,
But which Al Jazeera channel? If your subscription only covers AJ Sports 1 & 2 will that be sufficient?
Thanks
This is from Gulf Times:
Al Jazeera Sport will telecast the Fifa World Cup in South Africa on five of its channels, it was announced yesterday.
Of the five channels, one will be broadcasting exclusively in English with an impressive array of analysts and commentators including Lothar Matthaeus, a former German captain, Terry Venables, Trevor Francis, Glenn Hoddle, Ray Wilkins and Arsene Wenger.
Commentary will be also available in the French language.
Addressing a press conference at Sheraton Doha yesterday, director general of the channel, Nasser al-Kholeifi said Al Jazeera Sport will be broadcasting a number of the games through the 3D format and all the competitions will be shown in high definition (HD) quality.
“This will be the first time in sport history that matches will be telecast in 3D. Viewers will be also able to enjoy the games in movie theatres which will be a unique experience for football fans in the region,” al-Kholeifi said.
Al-Kholeifi also indicated that matches will be broadcast live via the new website www.aljazeerasport.tv, which will be specifically launched for the upcoming World Cup games.
“The new website will also allow viewers to download the best snapshots of the matches,” he said. Referring to mobile users, the official said users in Arab countries who have iPhones will also be able to download snapshots of the matches.
“We are in talks with telecommunication operators in the region to make this service available,” he added.
Al Jazeera Sport will be also telecasting some of the “unforgettable” games of previous World Cups, he added.
The Doha-based broadcaster acquired last year ART’s entire sports broadcast portfolio, including rights to the upcoming Fifa World Cup in South Africa and the Brazil 2014 event.
Legendary German footballer Lothar Matthaeus, Italian football coach Arrigo Sacchi and former Arab footballers were also present.
