Doha officially bids for ’17 Worlds
That's another ambitious project from Qatar. They had already organsied the 2010 Indoor World Championships at the ASPIRE Academy. It was quite well attended, I was there.
But the outdoor worlds, which is proposed to be held at the Khalifa Stadium, will be an entirely different ball game. They've officially entered the bid race now. Good luck to them!

DAEGU: Doha formally joined two other European cities in the bid for the 2017 World Athletics Championships hosting rights.
Doha Bid Committee Vice-President Dahlan Al Hamad presented the first draft to the International Association of Athletics Federations General Secretary at the Hotel Inter-Burgo at 11 am on Thursday.
Other cities to bid for the premier event are London and Barcelona. They also handed their files to the IAAF.
Dahlan, who is serving his third term as the vice-president of the newly-elected IAAF Council, said, “Doha is a serious bidder. We’ve a long history of organising athletics events in the country. The biggest event we’ve hosted so far is the ’06 Asian Games, which turned out to be the biggest and most successful continental event at that time.

It was the least attended games in history, their accommodation projects for the games weren't finished on time...at least report with some fact eh.
Qatar should have the winning bid. No better place to hold these event.
