After Argentina vs Brazil Football Match
After the spectacular football match between Argentina and Brazil I would like to thank the organizers for their efforts and of course the security guards for their friendly attitude.
As a result, Qatar is surely capable of sponsoring the world cup 2022 in a very professional manner and will successfully secure all its necessities in terms of playgrounds, infrastructure, side events, family atmosphere and hospitality.
Finally, hope the luck will be by the side of Qatar as it was with Argentina in this friendly match.
Hi,
Here are some videos taken from my HTC-HD2 mobile at the stadium. I was at the Argentinian fans' location:
Before kick-off:
Messi scores (minute 91):
Mexican wave (human wave) during the match:
My son caught in the Argentinian celebrations:
10 Days to GOOOOOO... Vamos Qatar... Mucha Suerte... Te Quiero.
Lol.. Unbelievable..
here you go... someone is having some sense of humor... happy for you.
HDY i'm western... i don't wait in queue lines here in Qatar... /sarcasm
Passive people will always view negativities and dark sides as their thoughts are blocked with only one hopeless scene. They will always be in the backside of the queue and will never advance, I think this is what actually happened to them while being in the football match queue... lol
ex.ex.expat said Genesis, do you think letting Nationals, Westerners, Arabs and families jump the queue while treating Asian bachelors is done for security sake?
---how would i know that's what really happened?Just because it was reported by an anonymous in an internet forum, doesn't make the story authentic since it was denied by others.
Crowd control is managed by internal secuirty force, and they can execute whatever they may deem necessary.
And please don't start comparing crowd management here with the UK or anywhere else!!?As there is no comparison with years of experience in organizing such events, number of trained staff and crowd control strategies in general.
Are you suggesting that the country stop hosting any public events over some post by unknown internet users ? Were there any incident of overcrowding as i cant find any report not on other local internet forums, blogs, Facebook or Twitter
Internal security what a JOKE, thats a new word for it...
and families jump the queue while treating Asian bachelors is done for security sake? Come on! We are discussing how ticket holders for a sporting event are treated. You seem like a level headed bloke. Surely you are not suggesting that kind of behaviour is for security.
Call it discrimination, racism or whatever. In a country where the majority of its population are non-nationals, internal secuirty is what matter most.
Immigrants are not more than 10% of the population in the UK, and yet it's a major concern
Don't worry the WC bid will soon be overtaken by the next polorising topic - there are always so many.
:)
HDY i do really think any country deserves to host WC
but i certainly dont belive any country without any proper system or structure of basic things are in implaced properly
i dont know from which part of the jungle you come from,
but its common sense,
everyone should be treated the samee, everyone should be queued in line, and things would have been much faster and smoother, but instead they were too busy picking who goes in first.
enough with the world cup bid already!
who cares whether we win the bid or not...QL is the only local internet forum that over zealously discusses this topic.
I know many Qataris who are opposing the Bid, and yet not many discuss the subject anymore
Give it a rest,it's only two weeks anyway and the host country will be announced
You just don't seem to get it, HDY. Everyone has admitted that we don't support racism in our countries either. But when we host WC, we do not enforce apartheid. Look it up if you don't know the word.
Keep digging that deep hole, mate. You have already buried yourself.
Again, as if your home countries are clear of racism and discriminations acts... as if it is OK to host WC in UK while practicing hidden and unhidden racism against others, specially arabs!!!
No, discrimination is not limited to certain areas, or has boundaries, but Qhris
Do you think it is OK for UK to host WC and not for Qatar??? Seriously???
He's hopeless. Let's just hope he never has the bollox to whinge about discrimination on qatarliving cause he won't find any sympathy ;)
You are right; racism and discrimination only happens in designated 'Racism Zones', a bit like the 'Fan Zones' they set up, but for Racism.
These things cannot happen outside the Racism Zone, like in a mall or in a football match queue can they?
I am being sarcastic.
Your points are ludicrous.
You think discrimination is limited to certain areas, or has boundaries? Seriously?
You are still talking about racism and descrimination !!! and where, in a football match queue... Pathetic.
Man, try to live in peace, clear your heart, be positive.
Here is an advise:
If you don't like something, don't complain but try to change it, if not possible, change your self.
Give it up.... he obviously ate too many sour grapes and the pips are growing in his tummy
You make me and others like me out to be "alien" and pump up the "Us vs. Them" rhetoric. That way you can justify treating people the way you don't want to be treated.
See, that's the difference between people like me and people like you. Fortunately I know a lot of Arabs, Asians AND Westerners who do not accept racism and racist policies, whether here in Qatar, the UK or anywhere else. I also know a lot of good Muslims who say discrimination has no place in Islam. But you must not be one of them.
Keep making excuses for why it's okay to mistreat others HDY. As long as you and your family aren't touched by it, why should you care? Right? But then don't come crying when you ARE discriminated against because NO ONE will care ;)
Awarding Qatar the 2022 bid is a pleasure for me, I will be pleased as if Jordan got it... we trust each other and respect outsiders... I have Qatari lots of Qatari friends, they are all respectful and humble... xxxpat, you live in a bubble.
Most citizens in UK know nothing about treatments towards Arabs, they live in their own world... you are talking about them as if they care !!
In some western countries they invade arab students' apartments only because they are arabs… they violate their personal lives and privacy by eavesdropping their calls, emails …etc. under the name of terrorism and its related laws, all of that only because they have the Arabic features. That is the discrimination. I know actual cases my friend… and you are complaining because there was some preference for some people on a football match queue!!! As if the countries you are coming from are governed by angels and the laws of your countries are derived from Human Rights.
Ex.ex.expat, pan-arabism!!!! What the hell is that!!! It seems that the long time you lived in the Arab world taught you nothing… for your information, I cannot transfer my sponsorship here but you can… go back to HR staff in your company and ask them whether they can get a working visa for Jordanian candidate, don’t forget to tell me the answer...
Despite all that, passive personalities fill their hearts with hatred to others and will always keep complaining and wailing… they start describing small things with big words… discrimination, pan-arabism, racism and other tricky words.
Most citizens in the UK will tell you that racial profiling without any real cause or evidence of wrong doing is WRONG. So is racial profiling in the Arab world.
I am aware of the problems SOME Jordanians have faced here and sorry if you are one of them. But does that make it alright to discriminate against Asian bachelors? If you want sympathy for the injustices you may face, try showing some for others.
Pan-Arabism is a dream that Nasser had and many Arabs hold close to their hearts. It's not my fault that you all don't trust each other anymore than you trust "outsiders". ;)
how many entrance/s did they use?
others faced, which he seems to find acceptable and just part of the "cultural package". You seem a smart bloke so I would think you understood that.
I stand corrected Qhris...:p
Fills MY stadiums, and offices? :-s
I am not Qatari. I was agreeing with ex.ex.pat
"Is Qatar really prepared to host it and offer reasonable accommodation to ALL ticket holders, regardless of race, nationality or marital status? I have yet to see that it is"
and saying that NO, they will NOT do that, at the horror of having what they think are the 'wrong' faces.
You sound like I am on their side, maybe you misread my post.
Traffic being crazy near any venue hosting a major event is understandable.. living with the "very little amount of" racism against single Asian men and putting up with it by us Expats who choose to be here is again understandable ,...but will FIFA want to be a part of such racist practices when/if they host WC here is questionable? The shut up or leave policy very popular here might not work well with FIFA LOL….
And Qhris, I wouldn’t bother about trying to fill up any international event in Qatar with just the locals, avoiding the faces of the “said nationality coz lets face it buddy, it’s the said nationality which fills your stadiums, offices, builds your country and does all the other work in between,… so if I needed to show a full turn out for any event the first community I would put out a red carpet is to the said ones irrespective of whose faces my crowd sports …….
we just really need to go to villagio that time and no turning back for hubby. what to do? anyways, i will definitely stay away from any stadium on a match day. :)
The traffic is crazy near any stadium before/after every big football match.
I am from Manchester....we just don't go near the stadium on a match day.
have no more tires, they are flying in the air! Lol!
The traffic is crazy hours before the game started! what's Qatar's plan if it will win the WC 2022? just a question.
Comeon that's bashing?
He narrated his experience, I did mine..
I had a problem with his post at 2:40 PM where it got a bit personal...
Let's see...so, HDY is being bashed for enjoying the game and having a different perspective!!?
I had a lot fun ... but one thing irritated me more.. that's smoking.... i think it was same for others too.. Some guys were smoking near my seat, an old gentleman requested them not to smoke after that they did more and disturbed that man in many ways.. Even he reported to policeman nothing happened..Security wasn't well enough
how can you stay in a place where you are not happy at all. Is there a place in this universe that is perfect? You win some, you lose some. But some make it a profession to COMPLAIN. I really wonder why?
The whole bid has been based on how enthusiastic the locals are, so of course they will be regulating to ensure that the 'wrong' type of faces aren't seen in the crowd.
It is embarrassing to them if they hosted it and after all the talk, there are just a bunch of 'asian' faces in the crowd....
in the West referring to getting arrested for nothing, thinks discrimination against Asians is a small thing and a "cultural" issue. Pathetic.
I don't blame you WK. I am sure if I experienced the kind of discrimination that takes place in the Gulf with regard to Asians on a daily basis I would be angry too. It's bad enough with the policies we have all come to expect. But when you buy a ticket to a match being hosted by a country that wants to show the world they are ready for the WC, and you experienced this backward attitude yet again, then it really does bear speaking out against it. It also is something that should be considered in awarding the 2022 WC. Is Qatar really prepared to host it and offer reasonable accommodation to ALL ticket holders, regardless of race, nationality or marital status? I have yet to see that it is.
I can get angry here right??
Or do I have to wait for all the "family" people to get angry before I can get angry?
And I will stay angry till they don't stop discrimination...
If you don't like people getting upset over discrimination then get out of Qatar.. (That's the solution everyone keeps giving me)
Discrimination IS NOT a small thing.. Not here, not anywhere else...
I wasn't saying that it was perfect at the stadium, but it won't be perfect anywhere else as well… small things happened here and there do not mean that the event was a total mess as you see it… any event at any place or country will have its strengths and weaknesses no matter how well it is organized… organizers did their best, sure they didn't intend to tease anyone but they were dealing with huge crowd… they were under pressure but at the end they did very well. Everybody was in, watched the match, cheered and had moments of joy.
People given preference over others "as you claim" might not have fun as much as your friends and yourself did…. you don't have to be angry till now whyteknight !!!
HDY I think you are willing to say anything to defend your idea that it was perfect at the stadium.. Well it wasn't and they made big errors, not organisational mistakes but basic errors.. You can call me any names you want but the fact remains there was discrimination on the gate and I just can't accept it.. I am still thinking about it and I am still angry about it.. Call me names, will help to divert my anger...
to know how it works with regard to Pan-Arabism and Asian racism. I don't know who you think you are fooling but not me, mate.
Thanks for your concern but I am quite happy with my life. However, the fact that I am treated well and respectfully doesn't make me close my eyes to discrimination of others. That's probably too difficult for you to wrap your brain around but just try :)
ex.ex.expat... as an Arab expat I face the same treatment as any other expat from other ethnics/ nationalities, I really don't know from where you got that idea!!! I'm sure that you are an unhappy person as you have a negative character. Try to get a better life, or try to think positive!!!
JoaodaCosta, you said that talking to me is like talking to a 10 years old kid. I accept it, but this doesn't change the fact that Argentina kicked Brazil's ass... lol
Lol Oryx.. I nearly missed the action, made it in at 7:58 even though I reached Aspire around 6:30.. It was fine till 7 when everyone was being treated equally but after 7 the line for bachelors just stopped.. To be pushed back by police with battons was not a nice experience at all...
by penalizing the whole 'complaining ethnic group', don't you think?
WK was not the only person to complain, but regardless of whether he went to the concessionaire, he and everyone else still has a right to be treated equally as payed ticket holders. At least that is my opinion.
xxxpat I don't why WK is moaning....
when he got in the stadium he missed some of the first half by going off to buy food..... LOL
We just queued up with everyone and yes I was going to ask for special treatment because my mum was with me and she is 71. We didn't but I was tempted because she was getting shoved and pushed by the very 'ethnic group' that's complaining. I was pissed off with that...thought there would be more respect to a lady of senior years.
WK I will make you sandwiches next time! :)
@HDY talking to you is like talking to a 10 year old kid and the kid still have more respect...
its obvious for everyone that you're ok with this categorized treatment, but it's not ok for FIFA and in the 2nd December they'll give their input about it...
talking again about this spectacular game between Brazil and Argentina... it was such a awesome game that i had not seen a single repetition in Al-Jazeera..
It's 2010 - why are we even having this conversation?
It wouldn't happen in Amman - that's because Jordanians actually show more respect for people than is evident here.
Rant over - just having a bit of a downer on Qatar at the moment.
a ticket holder just like you, your family, and the Qataris who were allowed to jump the queue! What is so hard for you to understand about that? Or is it because as an Arab expat you are happy that you are treated as a class above Asian expats?
I hav lived and traveled in many countries and the ONLY ones where I see this kind of treatment is in Arab ones. Sorry mate but what you call "culture", I call discrimination and bigotry.
I am just expecting everyone to enter via the same line..
Too much to ask??
Is that considered red carpet treatment?? I don't think so..
were treated. That wouldn't affect you or the good time you had personally, but I think you are a fair minded lady and would agree that this is wrong and a big impediment to Qatar hosting the WC.
whyteknight Mr. Perfect... then you are expecting every thing to be rosy.. ha??? funny and naive.
You were expecting a red carpet for your category... lol
And there are others reporting it as well..
http://www.qatarliving.com/node/1450264
So you go bury your head in the sand and pretend that everything was rosy but it wasn't..
Sorry HDY that you weren't treated preferentially, was it very hard?
I saw it with my own eyes and experienced the discrimination myself so it happened, ok?
[Mod's note: Mind your language!]
I was there with my family and there was no special treatment for families .... besides IF there was some for Qataris I would understand that as there are some cultural differences, and if you are claiming that you are a professional expat you would have respected that but you are anything but professional !!!
From now till 2022 there are 12 years... there is plenty of time to bridge these differences and educate people to accomodate such changes.
All this whining and whinging
I had a great time and we were a huge group......thought it was all rather smooth.
Maybe some people complaining aren't used to going to huge football matches.
the security at the gate was picking out even the small bottles of juice for kids; but they allowed people to smoke sitting inside the stadium. they should have made it a no smoking zone. that would have been great help for families with kids.
We are talking about the way spectators who have purchased a ticket are treated when attending that event. There can be no apartheid in WC and South Africa proved that. Did you hear of people being segregated in SA at the stadiums or allowed to jump the queue based upon having a wife or being of a certain ethnicity of Nationality? THAT is the reality that Qatar showed yesterday and it is a reality that MUST be addressed if FIFA hands them the bid.
All together it was Fun,
Qatar Just needs to get prepared for PARKING and Balance on Entrance Some gates were over crowded and some Just Easy ........Enjoy Pics @

Been to Old Trafford, Elland Road, Highbury and even Turf Moor.
Never had any major issues getting in. Leaving can be problematic, but police usually sort the problems out pretty quickly.
Qatar still has plenty of time to "learn" and sort out the issues - but it has to start with the premise that ALL suporters are the same.
WK the Emirates is amazing, your right 15-30 mins before kick off theres hardly anyone there, but good design and efficent organisation and everything runs smoothly...Khalifa Stadium is a nightmare and a shambles. There should be multiple turnstyles, scan your ticket, get bag checked and through, simple as that...security don't have to do a thing other than check for banned items.
Haven't been to any EPL matches but during TV coverage they show the stadium 10 minutes before Kickoff and it's empty. By the time the game kicks off, it's full.. They must be doing something right to get everyone in that quickly..
@ HDY stop talking bollocks, I've been to plenty of EPL games in England and it doesn't matter what your skin colour is as long as you have the ticket you get in, no hassle, theres no special treatment because you are a local or with a family, plus most of the big stadia like Arsenals Emiartes Stadium you can be in and out in 10 mins, its called organisation!
Guys, other western countries are not better than what you experienced yesterday, though my experience was great, western countries will not give better treatment to people, specially if they are from the third world... with the current laws they have I can be arrested for no reason!!! this is a fact.
As for Jordan's football team... any other arab country participate in WC represents all of us... hope you understand this!!
Guys, I was with my family yesterday (my wife and 3 yeard old boy), we had no advantage over others, we were in the queue as any other individual with or without his family.
Friendly matches are always at the same level of performance as yesterdays... Yes it is about money, doesn't matter... they pay money to bring entertainment to all of us here in Doha for low-priced ticket... Thanks to QFA.
haha talk about buttering up.
I like your email address! :-p
Free Chicken Shawarma at the Capital Punishment Bldg !
its a big downfall for the 2022 bid!!! the guy who jump in into the field was complete mess!!! what security they have??? and what will be the punishment for that guy? anyone knows?
@ HDY...of course this match was about money, the teams didn't turn up out of goodwill...as for friendlys what a waste of money....was it as boring live as it was to watch on TV? Just curious.
preference for certain nationalities. And you think that shows the successful ability to be able to host the WC, HDY?? Your standards must be pretty low. I don't think WC audiences will put up with this "preference for locals and families" that is status quo here. Your expectations must be very low.
Sorry to hear about your experience WK.
for you maybe... when you'll have a good football team in Jordan winning games against world champions you'll understand.. ;)
that means nothing
i just have one thing in mind right now...
watch it here:
http://www.tvgolo.com/futebol.php?subaction=showfull&id=1290027839&archive=&start_from=&ucat=02&
of course not for free... but there is nothing wrong in getting money for that... besides Qatar needs to sponser such event to support its 2022 file. Do you have other thoughts?
I mean Argentina.. champions of South America.
HDY do you think Brazil and Argentina came to Qatar for free?? Really??
I didn't see the guy before entering the field... yes he is fast ... lol
you mean Spain?!
JoaodaCosta, maybe Brazilians were slow but not the Argentineans... they are the champions.
Ellos son los mejores en el mundo.
hislam, for your information, today there were 44 firendly national matches across the globe and tomorrow there will be 8 ones. This has nothing to do with money, where did you get this from ???!!!!!
lol.. one time was enough... i have better games to watch my friend..
JoaodaCosta, I advise you to watch the match again on TV... then you will know that you are mistaken.
Actually one of the security is running after him before he jumped through the fence going to the field, but this guy is really fast.. haha
Agree with you Sharon, they should have dealt better and faster with the situation... I would say that he surrendered rather than caught :)
@HDY
is not a question of what team i was cheering... actually i was supporting nobody.. just watching the game.. and i saw a slow game with few shots on goal..
I'm wondering how it didn't make a fuss in their countries to play for no other reason than money. This can be acceptable for clubs but for national teams!!!!!!!But if England did it what do you expect from South America.
yeah.. Im a big fan of Messi.. hehe
Messi's goal was the highlight offcourse!
But that guy running onto the field during the match showed that they need tight security esp close to the ground.
And what was the deal with the cops running in a straight behind the guy instead of spreading out and catching him...lol
JoaodaCosta, would you say the same if Brazil won ;)???
I think prettyice was cheering Argentina as I did :) isn't it prettyice?
yeah it was a poor game..
yeah.. was really nice he made a goal, after 2hours watching the match.. haha
Messi made my night after the amazing goal :)
I knew that he will score tonight... :)
Same here.. hahahaha He made the night..
I did that too :) hahaha
the crowd were cheering for him actually.. hahaha
I saw that guy too... it was funny
it was okay, until a stranger crossed the line and ran around the field... lol
security guards for their friendly attitude
Are you kidding me???
They first let in the locals out of line, then all the "Families" means anyone accompanied by a female.. Meanwhile they were pushing the single guys away from the entrance not letting them enter even though we were standing in the line for over an hour while the ones accompanied by females could simply walk in and enter.. Only after there were no females left did they allow us to enter, that too as if a huge favour was done to us..
