Vacation Travels

At Safari Mall (Industrial Area) yesterday, representatives of Vacation International Travel & Tours invited us to attend a seminar at Awkaf where they would give us discount vouchers (50%) to travel to any of the three countries of our choice.

Has anyone attended such seminar?

Newfraudbuster, what was your point of argument when complaining to the CPD?

I want to help someone in my family cancel her contract with them, but we're not sure how to navigate this mess. Ultimately the terms of the contract seem to be legal -- it's just their pressurizing sales tactics that convinced her to sign before really thinking/knowing about the obligations.

All she wants is to stop getting calls from them about finishing the downpayment, and to cancel the contract. She doesn't even care about getting back the 1000 riyals already paid if that's what it takes.

Is there a time limit to complain to the CPD (ie. within ___ days of signing the contract)?

Hi all,

If any of you is a victim of their fraud my humble suggestion is to report it to the Consumer Protection Department of the Ministry of Business and Trade. Their email is [email protected]. They are very helpful and can get you a refund. I wrote to them and GOT MY MONEY BACK!!!

They were in New World Centre before Eid. Just as we took out a pen to fill in the lucky draw coupon, a mall representative rushed to tell us that they are giving away free gift to families. Out of curiosity we went there just to find reps of Vacation Travels waiting us to ask those same ol' questions which would win us the prize..

"Tell us the names of five Arabic countries whose name ends with "n"

Then "Congratulations you win a 7 days stay in 5 star hotel in Sharm el-sheikh" Attend our seminar at bank street after 9pm and bla bla...

now these people are standing in center point barwa village with small stand and 2 Egyptian representative and they started like "sir, please register your name here so that ur name might win a prize" so after registering they started their usual bla bla & invited me again for the seminar in order to receive my prize which they said it is a 7 days stay in 5 star hotel in sharm el-sheikh.

I went to a similar event and the sales tactics were so high-pressure that they almost blocked the door so we couldn't leave. NOT a pleasant experience. After we convinced the first salesperson that we weren't interested, we were passed to the "manager," who was simply the next layer of sales pitches. When the sales manager clearly wasn't going to sell us, he passed us to the "quality control" person who wanted to know if we were treated well. Then she moved quickly into another level of high-pressure sales techniques. By the end of the ordeal I was happy that I said no simply because it meant they wasted all their time for nothing.

If you do go to an event such as this, tell them up front that you and your spouse (or whomever) have made a blood-pact not to buy that day. That tells them that no matter what sales pitch they throw at you, you will walk out the door at the end without buying anything. Their objective is to not let you walk out the door without buying something.

My approach was to tell them that I would take their information, go home and assess the data, and get back to them with an answer. They did not want that. They wanted a sale before you walked out the door.

In the end, the "gifts" that they offered were not the quality that they were advertising. Ended up being mostly a waste of time and a lot of headache.

Good luck!

Dear Hebbar,

Its our money, our time.. We are the one to decide if to pay or not..The same happend to me today evening .We were n\invited for a seminar and they were forcing us to make the down payment..We just escaped from them..

No they didn't. what I mean to say is that they don't give enough time to discuss with your friends or consult with your relatives about thier offer. their offer ends on the same time and next day it will not be valid anymore! this is for everybody...!

for sure there is a catch. This is the same thing they are doing when offering time share.

do they put the gun on your head?

By Hebbar76• 7 Jun 2012 15:00

They are forcing you to sign on the contract without giving you the time to think. Also they are forcing you to pay down payment on the spot after the discussion. Then once you pay any amount to them then it's not refundable! then you are forced to take their package or holiday in their designated locations. If you don't accept their offer on the spot then they insult you infront of you family members....this was my bad experience with them

its not a good offer....

What stan told is correct....it all depends on how much you love to travel..if ur a travel maniac you might feel it as good offer..but else it wont be that attractive...as others said the executives look very casual....

We were invited in Dubai by PIVA. After about three hours of grilling, we managed to say no to their vacation offers..And they made us choose two machines from their collection..I chose a hand blender and toaster, I think..

Still feel good about refusing the offer and coming out..

they called me once for the same but that time they are offering 3 nights free in 5 star hotel, i didn't go coz i felt that they are cheaters, coz if you see the representative and how he looks (with very casual dress and slippers) then you will realize that they could not be a reputed company which can offer such type of services.
