Shahania Camel Race Course
Drive to Shahania on 1st day of EID was pretty fun and funny. A trip to discover a sea beach ( which actually never existed) landed us at the race course of Shahania. Watching the young camels with robots at their back was sheer pleasure.
A glimpse for the QL members and visitors. Enjoy...EID MUBARAK....!!!
Following Isabelle comments we went yesterday (Saturday) at 1pm; we had to wait a little bit and then also managed to see a few races, that was soooo nice.

I don't know why this is so hard for anyone to do:
I spent on several occasions hours looking for information on specific times and schedules for the camel races. Nothing is posted online by any organization - fine - but also anyone who does go and successfully catch the races don't report back as to when this all was... very strange.
Anyways... I went! And I caught them, and I also asked a local as to when this all transpired, regularly:
FRIDAYS and SATURDAYS
AL-SHEEHANIYA (go towards Dukhan, it's on the way, you'll see a signboard that says "Camel Race")
1pm-3pm (Definitely starts at 1pm, but may end later)
I have only gone Fridays, so I can't vouch for Saturdays.
Enjoy. For goodness sake.
Best
Isabelle
Ps. Big race coming up next week I think.
Some really great snaps.

earlier days they had poor kids instead of those robots........thank god they changed them.....itz nice to c the race by chasing the camels in your 4wheels....
me too had been to the camel race....something different to see here...and as well the road structure is very nice to drive...i think the races take place on fridays
Thanx Jinx and aussie. There isnt any need to hire an organizer. Simply drive straight towards Dukhan (drive straight on the Hamad Hospital road towards Rayyan). Shahaniya is like 50 to 60 kms before Dukhan. There are lots of directions/hoardings by the traffic department to keep you on the right track.
Aussie, I have no idea on the actual race...must wait for the news to publish in Gulf Times. And it would be more fun to watch the robots do their job in an actua race.
Nishant - thanks for the info and the pictures! The robots on the camels' backs look hilarious!
Does anyone know when the camel races usually start, on what days, and how to get there? Any information would be much appreciated!!
hey..is this still available tomorrow?i wana go to shahaniya with my friends.. what will be the best time and what part of shahaniya... if its possible can i ask for the contact number of the organizer so i can ask.. thanks!
