It is called Souq Wagef, which means the standing Souq cos all people used to stand. It was one of the oldest souqs in Doha. Lots of spices and arabic fragrances were sold there, traditional dress etc.  It is great. I went last week, had not been there for many years. They used to have lots of little shops there, which from a quick look I saw were there. There are a lot of antique shops there selling copies..... (these are new) But good fun to walk around and buying gifts for when you go back home.

I love the new "old souq" - go there regularly - its great when they have entertainment there too.

there is a coffee table book available - think its called "Souq Waqif", I saw it for sale at the Virgin Bookstore in Villagio
