I wish to perform Omrah with my family 1st week of May. I am planning to go by my own 2006 model Renault megane sedan. If anyone has experience going to Makkah by small and old car, please share with me. Also please share your suggestions. Thanks, Shamim
Dear recentely I went for Umrah in the 1st week of March.i can tell u about my journey and then u can think and deceide about ur self.
I left doha on wednesday at 11 am as i on wednesday you will find less cars at the border. i arrived at 12 and it took 1 hour to clear the border.
I arrived at Riyadh arround 6 pm and tsayed there in a hotel.then next morning i left riyadh to madina . I arrived at 5 pm in madinah and tsayed there for two days and then went to makkah for Umrah. On the way back again i stayed for a night in riyadh.
I think going all the way will be difficult and tiring.
nothing happen to me as i was driving car alone.just check ur tires as the road is good but long and you will be driving at 140-160 k.
first it is long trip around 1200 Km , and you going on hot month, where the weather wont be good, and expect sandstorm, you can easly feel sleepy, becareful, your car should be well maintain, make sure your tires new, try as much as , don't drive after 8 pm . no need to go Suadi embassy, all things can be done by agencies.
Second option, you can go to Ryad by car from here to ryad 300 km, then from Ryad you can get bus which not cost you more than 300 SR including accomdation.
Hopefully your car is 1.6 L and its enough my friend. Only to check there is no prior problem in the car. Don't go too fast average speed should be around 130km/hr. And in sha ALLAH you will be fine. Best of luck.
First get the Visa from Saudi Arabia embassy and tell them that you are going by car... Then get a Excellent Vehicle with Extra tires in case of emergency and get Extra money
