Can anyone tell me how to get paid in Doha. I left a job to do business developement for a indian manpower service company with a deal that i got 10% commission on all works gained with promise of registration. I got them nmasses of work , never been paid and told my company registration was not done so they cant pay me. i have been conned. They are now saying that if i complain to authority i will be imprisoned on return to Qatar as i was working illegaly and their sponsor can make sure of this.I want to return to Doha but am scared of this company who are no more than bullies and have caused me and my family great financial distress. Can anyone advise please
It is as beautiful like Sharjah or Ajman 10 years before. National area is the sister of Rolla(Sharjah).
Here is one I took just the other day. If anyone wants to use it for friends and family they are very welcome. Links to larger formats can be found underneath.

Hello All,
I need to down load any good map for Doha, for driving matters and knowing north from south in the night:)
Coz most of my day at work, and goining out only at night.
many thanks,
heart of doha
Very nice to c this pics and I am glad to say that my contribution is also there in your pics. -since we had made one of our tower in Al-Chorniche.
Frankly speaking, I can see only one tower which we constructed there!!!!!!!!
Well done.
nice
Paul - have you tried autostitch for panaramic stitching?
http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~mbrown/autostitch/autostitch.html
I've used it for several and have been reasonably happy with the results, considering it's an automated process. I'd be interested to know what you think.
NICE photography keep it up
ooops ... something happened
While I think of it, I've got about 120 high-resolution shots of Doha here if any designers are looking for such stuff: http://tinyurl.com/clhjrt
Nice work. It's murder trying to hide the polarisation of the sky but you've done a fairly good job (though I can still see that it is a three photo composite). You have what looks like a big sensor dust spot just above the Four Seasons that you might want to get rid of.
Someone suggested to me that Hugin was a much better stitching tool that anything in Photoshop. I've downloaded it but I haven't tried it yet.
I like the spherical trick, that looks different.
DARKROOMS - whoever asked ... I tried to find one a few weeks ago but with no success. Even Qatar Photographic Society have scrapped theirs, which is little short of shameful - it shows that thar are a club for playing in rather than a society seriously interested in the art of photography.
gr8 images thx buddy worth sendin frds n relatives
Wow! That really is a beautiful picture. I wish I could take photos like that.
Do you have any photos of old Doha? Personally I think that those skyscrpapers could be anywhere in the world. Well, obviously somewhere sunny!
nice picture
Nice to c u back
ya very true
Just got there at corniche last week. Nice view.
the pic. is so nice. But is that cornich really beautiful as this?
Wow, thank you for the beautiful picture! I work at JetPens.com and we occasionally get orders from customers in Qatar. They never have any zip codes on their orders so I tried looking up the zip code for Doha (of course I discovered there aren't any zip codes). Then I stumbled on this website and your posts. What a gorgeous city. Thank you for sharing!
Beyond the doubt, this portraite is awesome, spectacular panoramic snap that covers all towering zigzags in its colourfull resolution to attract any enviable eyes depecting the horizone of tomorrows bright Qatar and its dramatic ironical future.
You will love Doha. Its quite Charming, beautiful, in its own way.... but for a newbee it can be ............? so better join the Pinoy group and make friends as soon as you can
[img_assist|nid=50852|title=hmm|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
I will be there on last week of Feb. I'm curious about how it looks like. How big how beautiful...
Is Doha a huge city?

its actually really simple to do once you have a panoramic... as long as the sky is uninterrupted threw out the picture it only takes a few seconds in photo shop
but i also did one of the islamic museum ... but its on my flckr account...
give me just a sec to find it

Now that is pretty sweet.
they take panoramic pictures... and using a polar distortion they turn it into its own planet...
so tell me what you think of this one

for torque and vignale... believe it or not... for all my work i use a cannon power shot... point and shoot... i used to use a cannon rebel 35mm and then sold it before i moved out here...
i have been putting off buying a new slr ... but i keep doing so well with my little point and shoot... plus im fruggle... hahahahahah
my biggest frustration is that i dont get to mess with defferent lenses and wide angles... but i still do pretty well with what i got...
hopefully i will get a dslr soon... but until then... i think this do fine

okay there she is...thanks tallg
nice pictures!
by request from a friend of mine back home... i have made the panoramic available by print
http://www.deviantart.com/print/3891063/
if you order a print i must say thank you to you... and if you get a print i must suggest you have it framed locally because they can cut off the excess on the matte...
or ... if you want one cheaper... send me a pm and i will help you get one printed locally to your size request...

nomad_08 - in the middle picture (taken from fish market) you can see palm island on the left hand side, on the line where the water meets the land, underneath Ezdan Towers.
You can't teach HYPOCRITES
actually the second picture you can see the sand of the island... its kind of light... but its there...
the island is almost gone hahahah

tallg...i maybe wrong but the palm island should be visible when you take the photo from where the fish market was located?
I didn't take the top one. The middle one was taken from where the Fish Market restaurant used to be before it was demolished, on the bit sticking out into the bay near the museum of islamic art. And the bottom one was taken from a boat somewhere by the museum.
Your angle is a more classic view of Doha, but both have pros and cons.
good post tallg... i actually like the location that was taken from...is that from behind the Marriott? i might try that... it will be less detail because of the distance... but i still might try it...

They were taken in 2004, 2006 & 2008 (not all by me). They're not quite from the same spot, and the quality is pretty poor, but it gives a good idea of how things have changed.
very nice!
yaghazali i am making it a point to keep doing this every summer i am here... last summer i did this... it was at night... so its hard to see the changes between the two... but next year i will make sure i do it during the day again because the buildings are so much more colorful than most other places in the world so it makes for a much better picture...

Great work!
Doha has changed so much since I was a kid. I say someone should do this every 5 years from the same spot so we can see the progression. ;>
