Greetings,

I am new in Doha. Looking for friends to go fishing with.
Is anyone into lure fishing? Brought some of my fishing tackles here, but yet to wet some lines :)... Any good spots to share? Do drop me a reply... Thanks in advance.

Yup, when u head over to Measaeed based Sealine resort before that a small left is there which is an untouched place sort of corner or beach open to sea...There we go a lot and I have seen people catching crabs and real big fishes...There I though fishing is damn easy untill I saw one of my friends on FB catching nothing at Corniche after 2-3 hours...:)))

does anyone have a recommendation on the easiest option to go fishing with kids if you have no equipment or experience? Only options I've found are Ronautica and QIA tours, seem a bit pricey, just want to try out fishing with my son sometime. I'd be happy to buy some basic equipment and just hire a boat as long as the guy in charge would know where to take us

I was wondering if anyone has been to 25° 42' 5" N, 51° 35' 13" E for fishing. I heard it is a great location but a permit is required to go there.

hey mate, we are lucky that we have a big bait ball type..or mass group of small fish who live in the boat marina!!

so we chuck on a weight and a trebble and cave-man style hook them,..not so nice but they get eaten quickly with our needle fish! :-)

i have tried dead fish but they are not so good.

sorry if it isnt much help.

hi James

this fish is called "Sobeeti" and it is indeed one of the best fish in both fishing and cooking. Also it is getting less in numbers in the Gulf.

Can you please tell me the type of bait you are using also the name or the whereabouts of the fishing place.

good luck

Hi, I just recently moved into Doha, brought all my fishing equipment for light and heavy casting, and vertical jigging.

I am experienced in the Med.

I've already tried Al Wakra, caught a Red Snapper after a few casts and small barracudas.

If anyone has a boat and no fishing experience, I have the equipment and the expertise, so please contact me here, I'll be checking next days!

Let me know.

For the best fishing get a boat about 30km offshore and troll for Sailfish and mahi Mahi.

Of the rocks in the early morning, using chum and a lure get some Queen fish which are great.

that was cool ... Guess I will go alone this Friday and try it ... to reach the far to the king fish ... if the wind is blowing from behind your back then get a piece of floating material and you can use as well one plastic, blow some air inside and arrange it properly on the water, put your bait on the top and let the wind take it deep inside ... then pull the line ... worked perfectly on Corncihe while I saw a man jumping on the water [a king fish that every one heard it when it hit the water from far away, something really huge] ...

What kind of fish there? Shaeri? Safi? Hamour or ...?

Ok. Ok.

With the risk of having my favourite fishing spot crowded everytime I go there with QL members I will share, just because I know how it feels not having the good-spots knowledge in a new location that you've just mooved into.

Drive to Al Khor.

Go inside the city, at the roundabout at corniche go straight. Next roundabout, go straight.

Badeeen, pass by the Al khor comunity (it will be on your right), take the immediate turn right after that and drive straight.

After about 5 km take a turn to the left and drive straight for about 1.5 km, after take a turn to the right and stop after 900m. You will see:

- the sea in front of you

- and a house/settlement on your left.

Now, take the tarmac road behind the house and you will reach a deserted dhow that is raised on some wood pylons.

You now have in front of you the sea again and a land strip that goes inside the sea for about 300m.

The car can enter only 100m (the strip gets thin)

Leave the car there and take all your gear ... stop somwhere close to the tip and enjoy. :)

And as an extra bonus tip, cast your line on the southern side of the strip. there are more fish and smaller waves than on the other side.

In September you will see large kingfish (1 m) jumping out of the water for smaller fish banks. It's amaizing !

Don't get all excited, you need a boat to catch that fishes.

Now, I hope i will still have my 4 sqm of space when i will go there this Friday :)

Waiting for you post-fishing comments and pics.:)

P.S. - and yes, it's better early morning.

for a fisherman, morning is casting the line at 4 AM

GPS Coordinates (Google Earth)

25° 42' 5" North

51° 35' 13" East

Have a great and short week and a loong relaxing weekend.

All the best.

That's the idea behind going early :D

Well you have many options:

1. Do not let him sleep

2. Do not go fishing

3. Go fishing late.

In fact Novi, the best time for fishing is early in the morning. Usually we opt to go early so that we will be actually fishing by 5 or 6.

When it is time, guess everybody has to make sure that all who are willing to join are there. Always things can be flexible. Some go fishing at evening, but the chances here are less than in the morning.

Do not feel sad.

Novi. We have suspended our fishing activities. It will be fun when families join in he coming trips.

Sasa. Looking forward for future trips, it will be my pleasure as always to be the coffee contractor:)

jauntie. Now you are making us feel guilty and betrayal.

You are right about early morning at the sea. Very healthy. Although am much into sleeping late and lazy at weekends, when I used to go with friends for dep sea fishing, It was very interesting feeling. You feel very fresh and alert and hopeful watching the sunrise in the middle of te sea.

I was very envious when they all went off 'crabbing'. There is something about the sea and early mornings that is so fresh and nice and healthy feeling (says she who hasn't been to the seaside at dawn since last time she was at an all night party in Brighton lol).

Seriously - would be great, once some of the others are back from their holidays, to get a trip going. Lots seemed interested including some of us ladies. Scarlett is positively beside herself with wanting to go fishing :D

Hi! If you go into the Social Group (click on Groups, above here) you will find some threads about fishing - not sea fishing, though. However, I did see someone in one of the threads saying he knew some good fishing places.

Have a look. If you don't see anything just put your question re lure fishing to the people in the threads which discuss fishing, I'm sure someone will answer.

Good luck!
