Any Indonesian out there?
Please if you can give inputs on the amount of money (in Indonesian rupiah) to pay in the airport (i.e. tax, etc.) before indonesians can travel abroad.
A friend's indonesian housemaid is asking from her employer here to send money to indonesia saying that she have to pay 2000+ in the airport but she cant explain well what is it for. she said its for a sure seat so she can travel back to doha. her employer have already arranged all her documents and given her the ticket and allowances, all she have to do is go to airport and come back.
If an Indonesian has been away from the Country for two years or more, they will not have to pay fiscal tax on departure.
But like what Novi said there are all kind of people that prey on the inexperienced traveler. I have heard of all kind of bad stories about housemaids returning to Indonesia. All involve money, and I believe that they are genuinely scared of Indonesian immigration and customs.
I had a housemaid in Oman in tears telling me about her experience in Jakarta.
I forgot to tell you there is another tax call fiscal tax 1000000 rupiahs (just under QR 500) per person when you leave the country.
It is only applied if you reside or live in Indonesia. I forgot because i havent paid for the past 9 yrs.
Not too sure if this tax applied for housemaid - labour who going abroad to work.
thanks novi... i'll tell my friend that. anything else she had to pay the govt other than this tax?
there are alot of people in the airport preying on 'unexperience traveller' such as housemaid or first time traveller.
They asked money just to help to checked them in which is obviously something un-necessary.
Last time i left the country about 2 yrs ago, you have to pay 100.000 rupiahs for international airport tax. It is about roughly just under QR 50. Not sure if things change yet ...
