PHOTOS: Tallest skyscrapers in Doha
Qatar’s juggernaut-like construction industry has built some of the most unique buildings in the Gulf region.
It ranks 33rd in the world (tying with Beijing in China) for the number of buildings over 150m.
Let’s have a look at six of the tallest buildings in Doha.
1. Aspire Tower – 300m
The tallest building in Doha it was used to hold the flames of the 2006 Asian Games. It houses offices and hotel rooms and the revolving restaurant on the 47th floor looks out onto amazing views of the city.
2. Kempinkski Residences & Suites, Al Fardan Residences – 253.3m
Completed in 2009 this is the tallest luxury residential building in Doha. Architecturally it has been constructed in a post-modernist style.
3 & 4. Palm Tower 1 & Palm Tower 2 – Both are 244.4m
Both towers were completed in 2011 and have 57 floors of mainly commercial office space. They are visually arresting with their shard-like upper levels.
5. Qatar World Trade Center – 241.1m
An iconic part of the Doha skyline, it was completed in 2014 and is one of the more interesting buildings in Westbay with its futuristic protruding UFO-like disc.
6. Doha Tower – 238.1m
The cylindrical Doha Tower is a prominent and recognisable building in Doha. When lit up in the evening it adds a touch of fun to the night sky.
What do you think about the buildings in this list? Do you have a favourite?

"Some of the most unique buildings in the Gulf region." A bit of an understatement, isn't it? More like some of the most unique in the world. Doha looks as though a group of architects who disagreed with each other were let loose with unlimited funds to do what the wanted while high on acid...and I like it. There is not another city in the world like Doha. And the great thing is that it is getting better and better.
What about Kempenski hotel tower??
