Pak forum helps 20 Orphaned Children
The newly-established expatriate forum, Pakistan Women Association (PWA), has sponsored 20 orphaned children in Pakistan, an official said.
The support has been extended in co-operation with Qatar Charity and local Pakistani philanthropists, PWA president Rahat Mansoor said.
“It was with great sorrow that I received a list of 200 Pakistani orphans from Qatar Charity. These kids were waiting to be helped with their basic life support and education,” Mansoor said.
“With our establishment being set up only two months ago, and already having sponsored 20 orphans, we have achieved a lot and would like to ask others to join in.”
A fraternity for professional Pakistani women residing in Qatar, PWA was established in May with a mission to develop members’ professional skills and provide a healthy public engagement platform, according to the official.
“Following our efforts, PWA has been assigned the official Qatar Charity co-ordinator for Pakistani orphans. Anyone can support a child with a monthly contribution of as little as QR202. We are also seeking support through corporate sponsorships,” she said.
The amount goes towards paying for the children’s food, education and medical bills until they are able to fend for themselves.
“In addition to charitable activities, we will be holding skill development workshops for our members, as well as events that showcase products generally attributed to Pakistan women’s artisanship,” Mansoor said.
