Qatar, Ukraine ink several agreements to boost ties
To take bilateral relations to new heights, the leaders of Qatar and Ukraine held official talks yesterday.
The meeting between His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani and the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was held at the Amiri Diwan.
The session, which also saw the attendance of a number of Qatari ministers as well as the delegation accompanying the Ukrainian President, reviewed bilateral ties and explored ways to consolidate them further.
The discussions particularly focused on cooperation in the areas of agriculture, energy, healthcare, investment, infrastructure, transport and tourism.
HH the Amir and President Zelenskyy also exchanged views on several issues of mutual concern.
Earlier, an official reception ceremony was organized for the Ukrainian president at the Amiri Diwan.
Following the talks, the two leaders saw the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between the governments of Qatar and Ukraine. These included:
- an agreement for cooperation in the legal field
- an agreement for additional contributions from shareholders Qterminals
- an MoU on cooperation in the field of energy
- an MoU for cooperation in the field of healthcare
- an MoU between Qatar Investment Authority and State Property Fund of Ukraine
- an MoU to attract and support investment
- an MoU on cooperation in the fields of youth and sports
- an MoU on ports
- and an MoU for cooperation in the field of agriculture and food safety.
A number of ministers from Qatar’s side and members of the official Ukrainian delegation attended the signing ceremony.
President Zelenskyy also met with HE Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani.
