Stupidity really knows no bounds
A man was arrested on Wednesday for purchasing four rims worth over $950 using a stolen credit card, according to Nassau Police.
On June 28,the North Carolina-based Black Forest Industries received an online purchase made for four Rotiform CCV 18-inch vehicle rims totaling $975.98, police said.
The order was placed using a Capital One Bank credit card to be delivered to a Walton Avenue home, police said.
On July 11, the company received a charge back from Capital One Bank and was told that the purchase was fraudulent, police said.
Black Forest Industries contacted the Nassau County Police Department to help identify the person responsible and recovering the stolen property.
Detectives conducted an investigation found that the same Capital One Bank credit card was used to buy food from Papa John's Pizza to be delivered to a Hempstead Boulevard home on June 28 and July 2, police said.
A resident of the Hempstead Boulevard home, identified as 21-year-old Jamaar J. Monuma, was arrested on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. without incident, police said. The four vehicle rims were recovered at the scene.
Monuma is charged with third degree grand larceny, first degree identity theft and fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property, police said.
