Newer car or low mileage importance

Wonder where you would put your priority on a given type of Japanese 4x4, a more recent higher mileage one (say 2004 with 130,000km) versus a slightly older car (say 2002 with less then 30,000 km). From a resale point of view and cost of ownership, given the price was about the same, which one would you take?
I would go for the 2002 Model,
if all the data is correct
In this case 2002 vs 2004, you might as well as go for the lower mileage as they are both sort of old. There isn't a great deal to differentiate in the age.
Even if you look at an old car with low mileage some components will begin to fail anyway due to age. THis could include electrics or items such as windows etc.
However, a lady driven car a couple of km's a day is not good either as the components do not get even wear. The engine oil will never heat up properly for a start.
If you were comparing a 2008 model with say 30,000kms against a 2004 model with 10,000kms, I would go for 2008, providing it has been maintained.
Interestingly, all service oriented people have indicated they would always choose low mileage over hi mileage, regardless of age; body style the same (i.e. one said, "even if one car is 2008, but it has 200,000km on it, who wants it"). They are both in close to "as new condition", but especially the 2002 as it was only driven to work and back a few kilometers a day by the lady owner, and wasn't used to haul a large family around with dripping icecream cones. It is a hard choice, as I had the newer model concept in my mind as being the main reselling factor later on, but then this low mileage 2002 came up and made the decision difficult. Thanks for the advice.
Mfreele,
The first thing any one will ask you if you intent to sell this car will be.
Which model?
So I call 2004 weight more then 2002.
Service record.
Is the car that you've intent to buy having good maintenance or service record?(@ well taken care off)
Well, first of all the most important factor of determine the car resale price is the over all condition.
For your case u has to choose the car based on condition .
However if the both cars in the same working condition so it's better to go for a high model
Hope above answer your question
