Hello Everyone,

I am a (black) female that is considering moving to Qatar or Kuwait. I am considering relocating with my boyfriend. He has family that reside in Kuwait and he will be moving there this year. I was wondering if any of the some of youcould let me know what life is like in qatar/kuwait. I am very nervous about the move but most at least consider the opportuity for love and career advancement. I have a few questions that could help you give me input.

How is working life for women in Qatar/Kuwait?

What salary should I consider?

What are the housing and living arrangements for couples?

What is the social scene for making new friends?

Transportation?

What factors did you consider before moving that made this a good idea?

Does anyone regret the move and if so why? if you dont regret the move why?

LOl..yeah I thought about that after I created the username. I meant it in a totally different way but I definitely can see the humor. We want to make sure I will like it before we make both of our lives complicated with marriage. He will be there the question is will I be there. We know a couple with kids that relocated there and once his wife wasnt happy she moved back and he was alone and eventually moved back to the states. We want no regrets...So I guess I will be looking for employment with housing of my own until we decide to marry...

Thanks...

Hi Alexa,

I wasnt sure if it was illegal or not. I am looking for employment and hoping to receive a job that offers housing so that we dont have that problem to tackle. We could just live seperate as we do here.

Thank you for taking the time to answer the questions.

This is an opportunity of a lifetime in my eyes. As it has been presented to me by my boyfriend and others, this can be a great move for me. I figured I would be in high demand but wasnt sure what industries I should focus my energy.

Do you know of any sites I can find a job?

Are there job recruiting companies that help find jobs for americans over there?

What is the life like for women? I have heard its nowhere near as bad as we think it is. If I cant wiggle an entrie month what do you recommend for me to get a feel for the country. We are discussing several short trips or one trip for 2 weeks straight but since he has to work it may pan out to be a waist of days as far as spending time together.

Did anyone make this move with a boyfriend?

We are not sure where our living arrangements will be because he still needs to get settled with his job. But we know its either kuwait or qatar. We both prefer qatar but where we live depends on where I can find a job because we think he will split time between the two locations.

Are there single couples that live together in these regions?

How is that viewed?

And i dont agree with transportation is easy. Yes car is cheap. But public transportation in Doha in my opinion is bad.

I am still applying for jobs. I am in limbo if this is a good decision but need more information. I am a software quality Assurance Engineer (Software tester)

How did you find employment?

Are there resources for finding work internationally?

ARe they looking to fill certain job titles?

My boyfriend did state I should make sure the job includes housing. Does most jobs include housing or is that dependent upon the job level?
