Is there a Restriction to bring Laptops,kitchen items?

Hello All!
As i am moving to Doha,shortly,i need some valuable advice from this highly respected forum.
General Questions:
1.Can i bring my Laptop?Is there any restrictions?
2.Which Mobile service provider and package is most suited for my use,ie,mails,skype only-for Laptop and for mobile?
3.Is there any fitness center near Hilal Area,Near Tadamon Petrol station?
4.Is there any regulations against bring home made spices,masalas,pickles etc?
Specific Query:Medical etc.
1.What is the procedure for the Medical?I am aware of the tests etc...but the time taken...and also for Fingerprinting...Attestation?
2.How long would it take to get the PR permit? For how long is it valid?
3.Which is the better Bank to have an account...in terms of customer service etc.

1-yes u can bring your laptop

2-there are two mobile service company here Qtel and vodafon Qtel better

3-you can bring your home made food but sure no drugs

4- regarding the medical+finger print and have the qatari Id take between 15 to 30 days but on your copmany prosduer they can make it fast or more time but no more than 3 months cause after that penalty will be applied on them

4-there are alot of Gym around that area i think 3 or 4

5- all the bank are almost the same but as i hear from people the best are Qatar Ialamic bank , never go for mashrq bank for crdit card never they rate high
