Should I bring my aquarium?

Expat Sueño
By Expat Sueño

I have a decent-sized aquarium that I purchased in Australia. It has never been set up because we were transferred as I was gathering the necessary equipment.

Should I bring it to Doha? Do aquarium stores exist and are they decent?

Thanks,

Expat Sueño

Guys,... almost all avaiable here.

1 thing that I ve never seen is the ACTINIC BLUE lamp.

BTW, if you go for reef (Shallow water) dont go for 20K Metal Halide, your Aquarium will be yelowish and not nice. Use 10K or 14K.

Thanks

t_coffee what kind of bulb do you require ?

Most of the MH/HQI are available here unless you want to get a 10k or 15k Kelvin bulb. A lot is available in Qatar, but never what your looking for :-)...

Many products are of lower quality chinese origin, the brands one might be used to from US or europe are difficult to get... but more and more is available.

Any seawater tank owners here on QL ??

t_coffee, try www.marinedepot.com and while you're at it throw in a decent pumps/powerheads (like Mags, Maxijet, Power sweep etc) as i bet you don't get it in Doha.

I have all of the stuff - tank, stand, even the CO2 tank (minus the CO2). My tank is acrylic and has a bowed front; I wouldn't want to leave it behind because the stand is made just for the tank. . .and I don't know that I could find a tank to fit the stand.

I probably should order some test kits, though.

Expat Sueño, you can leave the tank behind, if there are a lot of pet stores in Doha, as they say, you can have the size that you want, maybe you'll also have the option to use acrylic tank.

You might want to bring the lightings, pumps, test kits, and what you prefer for filtration.

The transport costs are covered by the company, so I'm not so worried about that. If they break it then they pay for it, too.

It's an all-in-one tank -- the filtration & light systems are built in -- so it's all or nothing. There are some extras -- I purchased an external Eheim filter, an undergravel heater, and a CO2 system. . .can't remember what/if else. (Obviously it's a fresh water tank geared towards plants. Speaking of, are freshwater aquarium plants available?

I think mine is a 60 gal tank.. .or a 180 litre? Can't remember!

t_coffee, you can purchase the halides online. If you need halides it only means that your setup is a mini reef. Where are you getting the corals from???
