schools

My husband has been offered a role with NDIA but we are still in Scotland and need to secure school placings for our two boys 11 and 7 (years 3 and 7) for this Sept. We came across in Feb for a familiarisation visit and visited DC (told full for both), PHS (awaiting May's seat re-shuffle) and DBS (again full). However, whilst doing some phone rounds Newton Lagoon has said that they have spaces although trying to get them to answer their phone this week has been a challenge!! Does anyone have any information that they would like to share about this school please or any advice on any other schools. Thanks :)

Thanks guys for your feedback. I phoned Lagoon last week and they said they had spaces but I have tried emailing them since as well as phoning with no sucess with either forms of contact. I suppose I'm wanting the ideal world where we can make the move out and it all to go as smooth as possible with the boys settling into a good school and us finding a lovely new home.

When did you last heard from Newton lagoon that they still have places ? I hope is not during yr familiarisation visit in Feb I lot of things can change. A place is only secured when they selected after completing the entrance assessment & you paid the initial deposit. Normally when they are selected, you are given an offer letter & a time frame to pay. In the event that you past the required time frame, they will assume that you are not interested & places will be given to people whom are interested in the school. Since you are not able to contact them, suggest you to send them an email followed by a call to show your sincerity.

What simon said is true, top schools are all full & have long waiting list. Never the least, grab whatever which is available & put them into waiting list for your desired schools. Move them when it comes available. FYI, there is also a newton branch called Newton British School ( NBS ) . You may want to give it a try. I know DBS & DC has already done their entrance exam for coming Sept intake in early Feb.

The best schools are full first - take what you can grab and wait for a place at DESS or PHS when you get here. Might take a couple of years though.
