Hello there, me and my wife are potentially about to relocate to Doha for a position within a local bank. It would be extemely appreciated if you have any comments or recommendation to make beforehand, i.e. living in Qatar, cost of living, housing ..... cheers :o)

Rents run very high in Doha. It will depend on where you want to live and what type of housing you want (apartment, villa, compound, etc.)
The overall of cost of living in high.
There are movie theaters in Doha.
Entertainment is limited. There are lounges - some with live bands, some with DJ's, there are usually located in the Hotels or private clubs. Yes, they do serve alcohol.
Alcohol is available in Qatar. You must obtain a license to purchase. You will need a letter from your employer stating what your salary is. Your monthly allocation depends on your salary.
The weather is nice this time of year but extremely hot in the summer.
The traffic can be a nightmare as well as just driving around Doha.
There are things to do you just have take the initiative to do a little searching to find them.
There is book available at the grocery stores, book stores, and hotels. It is called Marhaba. I would highly recommend that you invest in one. They come out with new editions from time to time. It may be twice yearly but I am not positive. It has tons of information in it.
