Question on public transport

Hi everyone, I've been offered a job in Doha and it'll be my first experience living abroad on my own! But I'm a little apprehensive about what I've been reading on the net about the lack of adequete public transport.

1)As a single female who doesn't drive and only speaks English, I'm wondering if it's going to be tough getting around the city using taxis and buses?

2) Is it easy getting cabs on the roads or will i have to call for one?

3)What's the average fare for a 10 minute ride? Are the fares metered or do I have to bargain a price?

4)I may have to work shifts and on holidays, which would mean I'll need a cab to get to work and back at odd hours - early morning or late at night - how safe would it be for me to travel on my own? Can I make arrangements for a regular driver and how much would that cost?

5) Which is the most reliable taxi company?

6) What's the bus system like?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide some answers. Any advice is really appreciated!

Limos are expensive.

If you are going to depend on them exclusively you should budget accordingly. For the amount you can make car-loan repayments.

Hi Green Girl just to let you know this is my first time abroad but i came over for different things as i came over to be with my ex then he decided he did not want to any more so i got a job and now a single 25 year old i do drive though so have the choice to hire a car but use the limos and taxis which i would say to you book a limo coz when you book a taxi sometimes they pick other people up on their way to you the last time i used them it took 45 mins over the time i booked it! Fox limo are a good one! Bus system personally never used it so no comment! You can travel on your own no problem just stick with the same limo service so you get to know them!
