hi

I know Qtel is the monopoly there when it comes to phone services. May I know which is the best deal..buying a prepaid sim card (what is the amount available) or does deal that requires contract signing?

I already have a GSM phone...nokia mobile with me.

thanks..

here the local tele mainly arabic channel, most expat (english speaker) using a satellite. They have different type of package, our is about 1.500 QR half yearly.

i do miss television in Singapore, you have many channels without have to pay any subscription like channel 5, channel 8, suria, and others :-(

u pay for the one time connection fee & free wireless modem thrown in...how it works?

a friend of mine recently got a deal from singnet with an apple laptop contract for 36 mths. he pays about US$55 p/mth for the next 36 mths. its actually like u are buying the laptop on credit lol BUT that did not stopped many from signing up. starhub started this free computer thing...

i remember last year when i re-sign with singnet i got a measly apple ipod only :(

by the way what abt cable tv?? u got yourself those huge satellite dish huh? hehe...

else i think i will subscribe to an online tv here in singapore, so i can watch some shows i missed...

How is that works Pudding? 2 yrs contract of internet then you get a laptop?

I am afraid i will have to wait a bit longer for my laptop from Qtel lol.

novita,

over here, ADSL range from 512 to 10Mbps (thats the lastest)

now its 1500 kbps is abt Us$25 p/mth

the price drops every year since last year due to price way between Starhub & Singnet (aka Singtel) with promotion thrown in if sign up for contract (usually 24 mths) with 'freebie' such as free laptop or even a desktop.

Pudding,

If you are a regular user of the mobile and your bills exceed 450 QR a month..and you need international roaming then ...Go for monthly billing...IF not..Go for Hala/Hala Plus

Dial ups are dead and buried..but if you are not a regular user..you can go for it..Or else get an ADSL line with the 512 MB at 200 QR per month and higher if you go for higher speeds...QTEL ADSL modem works through a USB port and its slow..You will be buying an ethernet option modem and router from 370 QR to 550 QR

ADSL it is. Ours is 300 QR monthly, 1.1 MB. I know it is expensive compare what u pay in Singapore with Starhub / Pacific Internet / Singtel. But still best deal in Qatar so you can go online as much as u want.

when to visit the Qtel website to look at the billing cost and packages available...

which is the best? dail-up? prepaid internet (I thought seemed the best as I can control the bill)? or ADSL?

I am bringing my laptop and I already have a wireless modem & router, would be bringing that as well. I be using the internet to do online banking, call home & someone special :P and read news and maybe do some useless surfing!
