Has anyone used Qatar Airways to transport their pets? Have they improved? I'm moving my little dog from Washington DC to Doha and am very anxious. Any recent feedback would really be appreciated.
I did it directly with KLM - never had to deal with a pet relocator in North America, just followed the paperwork requirements.
Direct may be best for your pet. I like KLM because they were checked by a qualified vet, had their cages cleaned, were watered, walked (or litter boxed) mid way through their journey.
It's your call and your pet. I can't say if one is better than the other, but I was happy with my trips (4 total) although I can't vouch for my pets :-
Mary Catherine I checked but klm told me to use some company out of the us and they charged 4500 which is not something we can afford. Is there something I dud wrong? I did want to make it direct though as my dog won't do well with a whole lot of take offs and landings
My husband just got job offer for Qatar so we're in the beginning stages of our move. He will probably be there in April; I will follow probably in August. Was wondering if anyone could recommend a pet-relocation service from the US. Any help would be appreciated. Would like to do the direct flight from Dulles to Doha but not sure if possible due to breed. We have 2 shih tzus and my husband found out that Qatar Airlines doesn't allow them. Thinking Luftansa possibly but also checking into the pet services available.
I just saw this post however I was wondering how your flight went and who you used. I am going to Doha from JFK so it would be approximately the same time. I was going to go direct as well.
Thks. I was trying to minimise him having to take off and land more than he should. He's a shelter dog and had alot if issues before he came to me. He's been with me for more than 2 years and he's really doing well now. I don't want to set him back.
We moved to Doha before there was a direct flight from Houston, and I'm pretty sure we flew through Washington. The entire thing was seamless and super-easy.
You will need to have someone secure a permit for you on the other end, but I wouldn't bother with anything else.
I would not use Qatar Airways And the DC flight is too long for a pet. Reputable companies can transport them through Europe where they can be examined, exercised and fed and then sent on to Qatar the next day.

KLM has excellent pet transport services - I won't fly my animals with any other airline

Thks. Did you fly Qatar Airways through DC? And did your pets fly on Qatar Airways as well?
