New & Need Some Help
By Bahraini83 •
hello QLers
i have just arrived to doha on sunday Jul.27th
i have some questions to ask and hope you guys will be of help to me here
i'm qetting around 15000 QR, is that enought for a single guy to be here???
taking into consideration that compnay only gives me money ... no accomm. no car, no phone, nothing else but money
i need to rent, or buy a car...what do you people think is a better option??
my work place is on Cournich road ,,, so where do u think i shall stay?? given that i don't prefer driving longer than 20 minutes ???
how much is expected to be saved??
thanx in advance for your help
dear Nefertiti
i will tell u what my plan was to distribute my salary here
up to 5000 for housing
up to 2000 for car rental
up to 1000 for phone & internet line
up to 4000 for food & entetainment
total = 12000 so i end up with 3000 extra for saving
do u think i can make it?
3000 for room rent will be on Villas, sometimes if you are lucky you can find room for rent in a new villas! of course you have to choose which place you will be staying you just dont grab the room because its 3000.
and car, in hsbc you can loan a chevrolet for like 980 per month! or a honda for 1500..
normally i'm not a real saver of money ... i know its a big problem specially that i'm here on my own ... back home family and friends are there always for me
how good is the room of 3k u r talking about?i want to save some money but not against my comfortability now .. i mean i'm not willing to stay in a place below the standards just to save extra thousand or two
of course i'm not thinking of a fancy car ... and not taking an exhausted one ..
what would 1000 or 1500 instalment for a car offer me??
if you are into saving! you can budget your salary.
first thing you should learn is that you should never be fusy with things and the way you live.
You can rent a room for 3000 - 3500,now if you are a bahraini really you can get a driving liscense that easy and you can loan a car for less than 1000 a month, you do not need a fancy or big Car most important is you can get in to where you going!
Yes there is a lot of memeber here in QL says its small its because they are earning more than yours and there lifestyle is posh and they are living in a nice villa, apartment or condo! so 15K is not enough for them.
There is a lot of asian people here in doha, earns less than 5000 but they manage to live a good life some of them even drives a Car, go for an expensive shopping and even saves money and sends money at home.
So really, it depends what is your lifestyle and way of living!
in Bahrain.

Welcome aboard mate, before anything else, people learn to welcome this chap on board first...
and well like our two good ladies put it, its a good salary to get you through the month very comfortably but if you want to save then just a little bit impractical...but still you can do a lot in that...and I would say go for a Studio diff in rent can come to about 1500 - 2000 QR...the rest is purely dependent on your life-style mate...!!!
Cheers...

u think i need a flat, or better go for a studio???
been told that car is gonna cost like 2k ... i'm bahraini but never worked or lived outside bahrain ... not even depended on myself 100% like its going to happen to me here
forgot to ask aobut one more thing,,, where can i get a map of Qatar that explains the roads in a clear way.. so i can keep it in my car and deend on it
Is that all inclusive? you mean total package is Qr. 15,000?
Rent single bed flat cost - 6000...good places to live is TV R/A, Markhiya, Bin Omran, Al Saad, Bin Mahmoud etc.
Car small saloon car - 1500 , If you are panning to stay here longer better to buy.. monthly installment will be only around 1000 for small cars.
Food & Entertainments - 3 to 4 K
Its enough to live but wont get much to save.
A decent flat is going to cost around 6-7k, renting a small car will be around 1k per month then u have to look at your daily expenses food, clothing etc. From you nickname im guessing your Bahraini so u should know the rough prices, but i think u will be ok on 15k but try a push at least for a transport allowance...
