Moving to Qatar in Two weeks ; Accomodation Enquiries
I am moving to Doha in the next two weeks and I need assistance on accomodation. Though I will not be in immediate need on accomodation on arriving Doha as my employer will take care of this for at least three months.
I will however appreciate if someone can advise me on how much it will cost to get a good 4bedroom apartment ( villa/Compound) in a good environment in Doha ( not Biverly hills). I am looking for something in the range of QR6500 - 8000/Month.
Also can someone advise what it will cost to get a new Mitsubishi Lancer or Honda Accord in Doha.
Thanks
I'm really pleased to read your comments. Have you got a good estate agent? We may be moving in July and the housing cost is really making me nervous. Thought it is bad in Dubai sounds like it is worse in Doha. Do you pay agent's fee or is that the landlord's responsibility. Tenants pay agents fee in Dubai. How far away is Wakra and Al Khor from the city? Are there shops (grocery, clinics etc) in those areas. I hear traffic is pretty bad in Doha. Would really appreciate your feedback
March2005,
You should not blame the real estate agencies cause it is not their fault, it is the owners greedy fault, any real estate if they want to manage and sublet a building or a compound they have to add their expenses and profit and this is normal but the main problem is when the owner ask for a high price then the agent has no choice.

Hi...i am a newbie here but not to Qatar...I came since 2005 March..
Just to add....
I am also on house hunting recently. Prices are at the following cut throat level based on my ground work findings: -
1) Studio ranging QR2500 to QR4000
2) 2-3 Bed apt ranging QR5500 to QR9000 and QR6000 to QR11000
3) 3/4 Bed Compound villa ranging QR8500 to QR20000
4) 3/4/5/6/7 Bed Stand alone Villa ranging QR10000 to QR35000
All depending on locations..of cos if you go for Wakra or Al-Khor which is at the outskirts of Qatar...things might be cheaper now...
The reason for the hike is due to the numerous real estate agencies block up either the entire building or a few compounds at one go and subsequently sublet it at a hefty profit...Otherwise, I guess the rental should be lower by 20% to 30%...so what should we do???
...and it will take you at least 2 weeks to find one.
... 4 weeks if you need to work during the day ;oP
For that price range youll probably get a fully furnished 2 bed apartment or a semi furnished (a/cs and white goods) 3 bed apartment.

toksyb1,
Others will correct me if I am wrong but I think it unlikely that you will obtain a 4 bed villa on a compound for your money.
I understand that decent 2/3 bed flats are more within your range.
If you check other threads on this forum you will see what I mean.
