Moving on December. Doha be ready I'm going
Hi everybody, yes this Venezuelan will be on Doha by December (finally my Work Visa is ready). I have a lot of expectations, but I'm sure that everything will be fine. I did a lot of research about the cost living, family, shopping and all the info that I can find in this site (very usefully). Finally I take my decision. Accept the job and move to Qatar! My moving details as follows:
Salary: 20000 QR. Housing (Doha), school, transportation, annual flights, medical insurance. All provided by the company.
Because I will become an expat, I'm still having some questions:
I will be on Doha by Dec and after I will sponsor my family visa (Wife + 2 kids) later. Some one know how long can take this process (2 or 3 months maybe?).I already research the visa forum, but some answers very different (1, 2, 3, 6 months....)
On this point my only concern is about the time that I will wait to move my family to Qatar.
I would like to thanks to all the people who help me on this site with my questions on the different forums. All of you contribute to make my decision. This is a great site for all the people looking for info about Qatar in all the topics. Congratulations to the creators of this site. Doha ready or not I'm coming!!!!!!!!!!
Hehehe. I think I remember one of those two sets of traffic lights from my first visit. Wasn't it was outside the Emir's palace so he could get out quickly!
I also remember when airport roundabout was there and the airport was a tin shack with post office in the car park.
I was of course a young single guy back then so I have no input on the visa issue ;o)
Did you Google it first?
To all of you, I never try to put this comment with the intention of the people argue between, so I sorry, and anyway I will fix up the visa situation for my family once I land on Doha. Repeat anyway Thanks of all
But Alphaomega might become insomniac after reading all this...I bet

yeah MD, i have to be up at 4 am so i think i'll have to call it a night... goodnight to you as well.. :)
goodnite :)
You should be sleeping already, mjamille. Goodnight.
And then there were only a few left, if that.
What comes around, goes around....
have to call it a night too then... :)
Peace, QS. And goodnight.
i think MD's not in such a good mood today,.. better stay clear before i become a casualty... dont bark at me ok MD... :)
it’s like someone "very professional" was arguing with me, that it is impossible to change a sponsorship before completing 1 year with the same sponsor. Yes, this is a rule. But if there is a rule, there are always exceptions . I personally left 2 companies during 1 year. The guy even called me a big liar… he said, it is impossible….
I got a chance to make it clear for myself: everything is possible in Qatar. Never give your own example as a RULE, because the distance between the real rule and your particular case actually may be dramatically long…
ut this guy was an idiot. MD, I didn’t expect of someone as smart as yourself, would apply his own particular experience to all and everyone, ‘specially when it comes to such tricky things like immigration rules in Qatar.
well. anyway.thank you for your kind words.. the tone of your voice was unbelievable sweet tonight...

It's not your business, greentea!
hope you two will be cool... i gotta hit the sack i think...haven't had any real sleep since thursday night...
hey MD, you have to appease QS, dont wanna let her sleep feeling bad with you... :)
You are unjust, my friend, QatariSun. I hope You feel better tomorrow. I am not trying to argue "against" you. Just telling my story and my view. I did not say you were wrong. Have nice dreams, QS.
there now,....he's speaking from experience...
i never said, you are not allowed, MD. i said, I DON'T UNDERSTAND why you argue.. what's wrong with you today MD?
.. why you turn over and up side down all my words? what is that anger? did i hurt you somehow by saying that EVERY CASE IS INDIVIDUAL??
ok, drop it.. i am out of this h***.. hope to have some real rest of QL in general in the near future as well.. it really becomes insane latly.. no matter what you say, someone even who you consider your friend, start making a piece of cr** of you.. really sad...
thank you MD

Hey, greentea, I'm glad you made it home safely.
Why don't you directly communicate with your HR department? They will surely inform you about family visa and sponsorship bla bla bla....On QL you will only get 100 views with 100 different replys stating 100 different strange laws...

ei MJ he's been here since... uhm... ???
QS, dont mind MD for now, he's not sober yet i guess from drinking too much.... 7UP??? but i think he talk from experience, heard his story earlier... *wink*
Anyway, one more thing, QS, in 1993 you could not get a visa at the airport. You weren't even allowed to board Gulf Air in Frankfurt if your visa was not approved and in the airlines computer.
oh my,...arguments really are inevitable in QL... okay, so dont argue with QS,...find someone else to argue with...lol :P
Psst, I'm not allowed to "argue" anymore, mjamille.
MD, i don't really understand why you argue? you have just proved my words. Some are getting it right away, other NEVER get it..
the guy asked, how long he has to wait. and i said, it all depends on the situation, sponsor, and many other factors.. and you keep saying: I did.. I came.. I am this and I am that.. nobody talks about YOU, MD, or any other particular case. the question was about the RULES, and I explained the RULES, and clearly stated at the same time, that it might be a WHOLE range of variety from bringing the family at the very same day to getting a visa refused forver...like my friend, a doctor of HMC, couldn't bring his jordanian wife on even a family Visit visa, let alone a residence visa for her... he tried for almost a year, until he met some guy who was able to do it for him...
...there is absolutely nothing to argue about....

were you here since that time MD?
I think there were some laws in 1993, but nobody really cared. There were two (2) traffic lights in Doha, and no mobile phones!!
LOL....MD. Even I have arrived here right on the first day with my husband, don't know on whos sponsorship!! No need to say my husband was not a resident by then. In our case the co. itself asked whether we want to come all together. And from the point of nationality, my country is refered as IIIrd world country.

The "company" that got me here was Qatar National Hotel company. Sheikh Khalifa was the Emir. Issa Al Kuwari was the minister of Information and he did it. We came here and got family residence visa.
yeah, MD, by the way... YOUR family didn't really need any visa from the company to come to qatar with you together. I guess they have obtained a visitors visa at the airport upon arrival, as probably you did also. Family Residents visa CANNOT be issued before YOU become a resident.. and not for all nationalities visas upon arrival can be issued .. so as i said, it's not as easy as: "You either take all four or none." . There are certain procedures you have to go through, sometimes they are quite complecated....

Demand for visit visa for family, get it extended once you land with them. Can extend up to 6 months. Before that you can get you family resident done.

MD.. that's what i said...this is a rule, and there are exceptions...And it's not entirely up to the Company to bring your family with you right away or not. Every application (including for YOURSELF) need an approval from the government... it might happen even with the candidate himself.. there are a lot of cases when the Company is willing to hire the person, but for some reason the visa for him/her cannot be issued.. what shall you do? the same is with his dependants... You were lucky, your company was able to issue visa for your dependants right away (don't forget, i have mentioned the nationality factor as well), other have to wait 3 months, some are waiting for 6 months, some NEVER get a family visa approved. But you are right, it's up to you to accept this situation or not...

Alpha, you should make your family accompanying you a condition of the contract. I don't understand you guys. When a company wanted my services in Doha, I said "okay, but we are four people. You either take all four or none." My family came with me on the first day I was in Doha. I would not have accepted anything else!
.welcome to Doha......
.and welcome to QL........
.
the law says, that you have to have at least 3 months salary transferred to your bank account before you can apply to sponsor your family... but... qatar is qatar...a lot depends on the PRO of your company (or the Rep who will process a Family visa for you).. some companies/PROs are stronger and more powerful, and will let your dreams come true after only 1 month...other are less powerful or lazier, and it might take about 4-5-6 months... also depend on your nationality.. there are some restrictions towards some nationalities, which slows down the process or even make it impossible to complete...ALL DEPENDS...
