moving car from Saudi to Qatar

Hi there - yet another question for you all!!!

We will be coming to Qatar in August, atm we are in Saudi and want to bring our car with us - lets just say we have had a nightmare - it was a car lease and to give the car back they have now stumped us with having to pay 50,000 SAR just to return it!!! (even though we were assured we wouldn't have to when we took the car out! LONG story!) Anyway, my DH parents have rescued us and said they will lend us the money to buy the car outright - so financially you can see why we want to bring the car with us!

So my hubby would want to drive the car over in June from Saudi, and then fly back into Saudi for us to leave on final exit at the end of the month, we would then be flying into Qatar in August - firstly will this be a problem as we wont quite be resident? Also what is the procedure for registration in Qatar? And how much does it cost? From what i have read because it is from a GCC country there would be no tax? The car is less than 1 year old, a gmc acadia.

Any advice is much appreciated, and if anyone has taken their car from Saudi to Qatar I would love to hear from you!

Thanks in advance!

Ellie

Hmmm a matter of a few hours - we won't get our RP until we arrive in August - but obviously can't leave car in Saudi once we have had final exit and can't have car in Qatar without RP - not sure how to get around that one - as when we leave KSA we will be on hols in UK for 6 weeks before we start our new jobs in Qatar??!!!

what an upside down story

just cancel the registration in traffic dept in your city and get an export license on it and drive it to Qatar. but you cant keep the export license for long you DH needs to have resident permit so he can register it here as soon as possible. so your DH needs to handle Qatar RP fast.the fees i dont know much if you are driving it yourself to enter Qatar with it.
