Money from Landlord ??
Hi..
I have paid rent in advance to the real-estate agency but unfortunately I had to leave the place 2 months earlier than the agreement ends as there was a issue between real-estate company and landlord.
so they had to return my 2 months’ rent. they paid around 60% of the amount at the time I left the place as I refused to leave the place without getting money back. Now it look like they don’t want to pay the rest and dragging me for last 2 months by giving some silly excuses.
I have a receipt (and SMS’s from the owner) from the real-estate company that they have to pay the amount and the owner signed on it (with confirmed date). so any idea how I could get my money back? If I go to police with this paper, will they help me to get my money back ?
Thanks
If You are leaving the country you have all the right to get the money back.
make a demand letter, written. let them receive it. specify a date of payment. if they still fail to pay you, make legal action.
There is a government agency to deal with these types of issues. The Rental dispute office is located at Muntaza park (across from the Holiday Villas on C-ring road) There is a sign for the rental dispute office. Look for it near the corner of C-ring and Muntaza. Often times just finding out that you will be contacting them will scare the people into just paying you to go away.
Give the Company an ultimatum and tell them that if they are not paying the balance amount on the said date you will file a complaint with the documents you have.
