Importing a car from Saudi into Qatar

First post here folks...been reading this site for a while, but got a question I'm hoping you guys can answer.

I'm working in Saudi, maybe taking a job in Doha. The question is, how difficult / costly is it to bring my car with me into Qatar with me and register it there?

It saves the hassle of selling it here in Riyadh, then having to buy another one when / if I get to Doha. Also allows me to bring more stuff with me in the car!

Many thanks in advance for any info you can offer.

Gents,

Question my car is 2010 and it seems it needs inspection, where would the inspection be done, is it at the borders or in the city, please advise.

I do think that it is quiet difficult but not possible because Qatar city has its own very well developed living style. But before come to Qatar you should have issued a no objection certificate from the Saudi government so that you not face that much problem for some days. After you shifted to Dona try to do the registration as soon as possible so that you can safely drive your car. According to me it won't take any more charge for the service.

Transportation the big problem in Toronto creates many issues for people those who are traveling through private cars. The car rent becoming so high that it is becoming difficult foe people to travel in car .For her to pay back what she owes, she needs that car for transportation to either hurt for a new job, or continue working where she is already employed, whichever it may be. Both she and Ally Financial Inc. should have communicated with each other more, before reposing the car, to make other arrangements, such as refinancing.

I am looking for some advice re regulations on importing my car to Qatar. I am leaving Riyadh, moving to Doha. I own the car, 2007 model, have valid Istamara and insurance.

1. What is the maximum age of the car allowed to be? Some info suggests that the maximum age of the car is 5 years, others say 3. Which is it?

2. Does Qatar allow this on a Visa with a grace period to allow the Qatar Residence Permit to be obtained. I understand that this can take a month from arrival. I understand I have a grace period on my licence and was hoping I could get the same on the vehicle reregistration.

3. The car is for personal use. Is there any customs duty payable? I have heard 0% and I have heard 5%. Does anyone know this?

Regards

Thanks for the info nudge, sounds a pretty straightforward process. Once I know if I'm def coming to Doha, I will get onto the Saudi Traffic Police to start the ball rolling.

cheers.

go to saudi traffic department get an noc with export plate, drive into qatar. buy new insurance and if the car is older than 3 years, get the inspection done n drive not much cost if u don't buy comprehensive insurance its just QR 550 + 150 for inspection (in case if u require) + 200 for registration.
