first time kabayan in qatar
hi kabayans, in a couple of weeks i'm about to go to qatar to work in an oil and gas company in ras laffan. i would like to ask some concerns below... please help me guyz
-Church where i can attend mass (catholic)
-basket ball and tennis courts
-how open is qatar
-working environment in ras laffan industrial city
-if i would like to get a bachelors room in doha, how much should it cost?
any tips also for a beginner like me in qatar are highly appreciated (especially do's and dont's). by the way, i work in saudi for two years before... thanks guyz...
sure istifen.. so are you a planning engr too like me? when you arrive in doha send me a message in my inbox... it's good that you will be staying in doha... we can help each other at work..
regarding driver's license, i've got no idea about the cost since i just converted my saudi driver's license here in doha.. can't remember how much i paid when i converted it...if you have no DL from GCC, you will have to go for a driving school before you can take driving test...
good luck bro and more success...
nope.. i work in abu hamour area..barwa city project...
yap...i will give you a message when i got there...i believe we can help each other...but i only have few yrs of experience compare to you hehe...are you working also in RLIC?
I am coming to qatar, doha precisely this month ending. I have not secure any job yet any information on how i could go about it as soon as I arrives. Please be more objective with your responses. Thanks Eddy
thanks tryke...i was inform by my employer today that our set up for now is were going to stay in doha...i was thinking to get a car also, but it will take me some months to buy my own...do you have idea how much would it cost to get a drivers license?
i found out in your profile that your a planning engr too, i hope we can be friends and share some notes... hope to catch up with you soon...hehe...
istefen... if you prefer the cheapest i suggest you get bedspace only...it will cost around 400 QR to 700 QR depending on your preference... just look for a place that will suit your requirements.. since you will be staying during weekends you don't need to rent the whole room.. cheapest room for rent now ranges from 1,500 QR to 2,500 QR...
one thing which is the most important for you to have is CAR... it's a necessity here in Doha... if you can afford it you should buy a car for yourself.. it's very convenient when you have your own car... using taxi here in doha is very expensive and you will have to bear the scorching heat of the sun during summer days waiting outside...
thanks tryke, yah i'm about to rent it in months... but i prefer the cheapest coz i will just stay there in weekend...
i can be your playing partner milky if you want... but i'm not that good, i play tennis only for six months...
I play tennis too but dont have a playing partner!
finding a room in doha is very easy.. you can check about the monthly rental cost at the classified section here in QL... but i don't think you will be able to get a room for one day only.. it's on monthly basis... welcome to qatar bro...good luck...
yap...thanks kabayan... i really need it, i want to play tennis or basket ball also after office hours... and after i adjusted in ras laffan, i am thinking to get a room in doha to stay in weekend...do you have idea how much would it cost?
im working in doha step your place is far from the city.. secure an internet kabayan so that u won't get bored..
welcome step and its time to feel heat...
No P.D.A.!
thanks bro... sure, i'm a coffee adik actually... my little brother was a dota adik, he tried to teach me pero d ko tlga hilig ehehe... maybe NBA live
TO STEPHEN:

welcome stephen
thanks cath...
yeah, bible is allowed and all sort of church related artifacts.
first impression, it's a bit laid back compared to dubai's city living.
welcome soon to qatar. :)
thank you guyz for all your comments... any additional infos and tips... especially the moment i arrive in airport... can i bring a bible? i'm leaving the philippines by next week...thanks
jaydee7475... i want to apologize too, i thought your a boy... i understand you...
I Worked in Qatar before. It is nice, small but simple life. You can save a lot if thats what you want to.
Allan
stephen, yup i know all of us have sins. but since your single, you are free to have a gf there. i just thought you are not and i apologize for that. i somehow got affected bcoz my husband will be moving to qatar this june and ill probably join him 2-3 months after. its not that i dont trust him, its the girls that i dont trust. hope u understand.
hi, i am also new here in Doha :)
well, as far as I know, 1 lang ang Catholic Church dito sa Doha. medyo malayo sa 'downtown'.
courts? no idea yet, haven't really gone out. mainit! hehe
if you are from KSA then I guess you would really find Doha a bit similar to KSA (sabi nila).
as for the working environ, well, since nasa industrial area ka so you should not expect na magiging 'lively' siguro ang surroundings hehe.
anyways, goodluck & welcome to Doha :)
angelo... thanks bro, you tell me that info...
jaydee7475...thanks for your advice...you know i am really surprise about your comment but please let me tell you one thing... i'm not the type of guy that you're thinking...i'm single @ 25, and there was no woman in my life for almost three years... i'm telling you, i can't even look a girl crying... i've been a sakristan for 7 years but i'm not saying that i'm a good person... i just want to remind you that all of us are sinners...
THINKER'S ARE DOER'S...
to stephen delos santos, if you have a wife already, you must not have other woman other than your wife when you get to qatar. its a sin and what's the use of asking for the location of the Church so you can attend mass if you will not live to the priest's teaching.
Stephen Delos Santos, There is catholic service in Ras Laffan Industrial City. When you join the company, just ask them and they will tell you when and where.
You would most likely be given accommodation in Ras Laffan. Check with the company. Travelling to Doha City takes most of an hour, one way
thank you so muc guyz... i appreciate all your comments, it's very helpful...
arvinvernon... thanks... don't worry d ako mambabae jan... hahaha... kun sakali man sure isa lng... hehe
poymaasin... thanks...i hav free accomodation by my co. in ras laffan area... but i'm thinkin to have a small room for me to sleep if i want to stay in doha in weekend... cheapest is enough for me...
enajram...thanks...do you hav an idea how much a rent a car cost? and how to get a drivers license... so that i can go to church
tryke... thanks... i guess i will just avoid liquors... ehehe... i did it in saudi for 2 years...
salamat tlga s inyo mga kabayan... hope to catch up with you all soon... God Bless!
qatar is like dubai and saudi combined... the environment and lifetyle is like dubai except for pork..it's not available in the open market...ras lafan is very far from the city (2 hrs driving) so if you want to go church you've got to have your own car... basketball & tennis courts are available in the accommodation compound in ras laffan... qatar is strict during ramadan.. liquors are available here but you should have license in order to buy...
hi,
church is in abuhamour, but its gona be hard for you to get there without car.
all kind of sports have here, but your place is raslafan very far from the city.anyway i think there are many pilipinos in that place you can ask them where you can play the game that you want.
its good that you are connected with the good company, wich is oil company,im sure your getting good salary, but about the working enviroment i can say quite good, but like what i told your place is far from the city.
accomadation.more cheaper in raslafan than doha.
WELCOME TO QATAR
- church we have roman catholic located in abu hamur doha.
- basketball and tennis court yes there is....
- slightly open but strick...
- no idea about working environment in ras lafan but i know its a Big Company like schlumberger, qp..
- 3k-4k studio type flat for your accomodation depends on your salary or needs.(how much your offer?, for my experience qatar accomodation rates is better than dubai so you dont have a problem with that. but you mention you will be in ras lafan so you need transportaion or car since its very far from city.
1. Only 1 Roman Catholic Church
2. Yes Doha have Basketball and Tennis Courts
