I want to move to qatar and want to bring my son who is 9. Are there good schools for kids from the western hemisphere? What would family life be like. I am a single mom and before I take a job, wan some input from those who know.

There are many expat schools here in Doha and really good ones.

There are waiting lists though and before you accept any contract here, make sure you have the schools paid for by the company. They are too expensive to pay for yourself.

Also have accommodation included in your contract.

Most popular British schools. DESS. Doha college.

Park house( my son when there) compass and Sherboure schools all have British curriculum and the most sort after.

American curriculum is Qatar academy, the American school and English international school.

Please check before you come whether they have places for your sons age.

There are lots of other schools springing up and you could try any of them, but the ones just mentioned are most popular.

You should check out Qatar academy. Top school in Doha, with a US curriculum and plenty of diversity. Might be a little hard, academic wise, but all worth it in the end. Also, family is very important in Doha as well as Qatar Academy, you will find that there are countless family activities offered not only by the school but other places and organizations such as Katara, Qatar Foundation, etc.
