Hi guys,
Jackie and I move to Doha early May.
Can anyone send us some info on the following:-
1/ How much will it cost us to lease a Landcruiser or similar and what documentation do we need?
2/ How long does it take to get our residency paperwork?
3/ What documentation do we need to open a bank account?
4/ Is there an iris or finger print entry system at the airport?
5/ Are their any areas we should avoid when looking for accommodation?
6/ Any tips you can give us for when we arrive/
Many thanks in advance.
Colin Binmore.

Colin

1) Allow around 3,000-5,000 QR pcm for a 4x4

2) RP can be as quick as 1 week but allow 2-3 weeks

3) Your company will provide you with a letter to open a bank account on arrival (current). You can open a saving account without that. Just walk in. I would recommend Qatar National Bank (QNB)

4) Yes there is, you can apply when you get your RP. You will require an Exit Permit from your company.

5) Doha is all safe and good. Some areas more expensive than others. I recommed West Bay, Dafna and Gharrafah. Avoid city centre, very busy and noisy.

6) My tip...patience patience and patience. Very kind people, very nice and weather is fantastic.

Good Luck

I will check about the nursey in the tower. What i am sure of, is that there are plenty of nurseries around, not far from the tower. Anyway, I will check and let you know. Please, for further informations, contact me on [email protected]. thanks. Regards.

The apartment is for rent or sale. I couldn't put it in the classifieds since I am out of qatar now.

Yes, there is gym, pool, sauna... I don't know if the nursery opened yet.

She doesn't know what she wants, azilana. In another thread she offered the flat for sale! (Including permanent residence for the buyer).

Hi Colin.

your data were not specific, you moved or you're about to move?

1.) will you be here on which visa? are you staying for good?

2.) what nationality are you, cause there are some classifications too, as far as im concerned.

3) RP and other documentation varies, some can have it in less than 2 weeks, it really depends on the scheduling of the PRO from your company, and in which case, we dont know too if you'll be here on business visa, or company provided.

4) usually an RP is required for the Bank account RP stands for resident permit

5.)if you're coming from other emirates you can drive for some time, and have it just exchange by having eye test on traffic department.

6. otherwise, read what steve1 suggested too.

best of luck and warmest welcome!

your company is picking up the bill or your salary is mega bucks and you are here for less than a year or so.

Come with an International licence otherwise you can only drive for a week on a UK one.

Its easy to transfer your UK licence to a Qatari one.
