I am a 35yr old electrical engineer and am coming to Qatar next Sat and Sunday for an interview with a contracting company called Midmac. Can anyone give any hints on what to look out for when dealing the empolyment contract? Does anyone know if Midmac are known to be good employers?

They are offering a package including housing. Where are the good places to have an apartment and where are the bad ones?

I would appreciate any help anyone can give

Most of the companies are not giving contracts before actual joining, but mostly they will give you an employment offer.

the first tip is to confirm that they will provide you with family benefits (If you have a family): the minimum range in this respect includes: Joining ticket for family, Annual Air Tickets for you and your family ..).

Housing Allowance should not be less than 10,000 if you are Euro or U.S.A. national and 7,000 if you are meddle-eastern. (this also in case of Family Status).

Better to negotiate about education allowance also if possible.

Get prepared to your Interview properly (you can search the web for "Best Interview questions and Answers" It will help you so much.

Bring a detailed copy of your well formatted C.V.

Be strong and Confident.

and good luck

traffic in doha is bad, if they offering a housing you will have no say where do you want to live. But if they offering you an allowance, you will have to find out where is your office to be, and then you can post another question here and ask around nearby apartment or compound.
