Dear all,
My company wants to send me to Qatar on a business visa for an extended period of time until I get my work visa and then residence permit. The local HR says that I can get a drivers license, rent a place, and get company health insurance card. But I can't get a Qatari ID and can't own a vehicle. I just want confirm this information independently and would like to know the difficulties (in personal and business affairs) I can face with having a business visa?

Look forward to a prompt response.

Thanks,
Zamindaar

Dear all,

My company wants to send me to Qatar on a business visa for an extended period of time until I get my work visa and then residence permit.

* Qatari is right you cannot buy or own a car until you get your residence permit granted. but, your company can provide or rent for you.

The local HR says that I can get a drivers license,

* That would be International Driving License based on your local license (by the way, I am an agent from America)

rent a place, and get company health insurance card.

* Not entirely sure about that!

But I can't get a Qatari ID and can't own a vehicle.

* Qatari ID is only possible after processing your proper working visa.

I just want confirm this information independently and would like to know the difficulties (in personal and business affairs) I can face with having a business visa?

* Depends if they are willing to shoulder all your expenses by bringing you in and out of the country, why not stay in a business visa?

Look forward to a prompt response.

I hope this information helps!

Just keep dancing, it will do you good!

You can get a 3 month temporary Qatari driving licence. You will need a copy of your passport and your own countries driving licence.

I don't think you can open a current account (you may be able to open a savings account though).

Also, don't think you'll be able to get a Qatari driving license (maybe an international one?)

And also don't think you can rent in your own name - maybe the company will rent it for you.

Sorry for not having more definate answers..

Moreover, can I open a bank/credit account with a business visa?

Thanks,
