Whoever thinks they are underpowered hasn't felt the thrill of pulling the 6%+ grades in Colorado without shifting down from top gear. The sound of the V-Twin loaded up is SWEET!
There is no "best bike". Every bike has its pros and cons. FOr example the k1200s that you mentioned is too heavy,slow and ugly for my tastes. But hey you seem to like it.
As for harleys, LOL, best bike if you enjoy slow cumbersome handling, meek power plant and constant repairs.
Overall the best bike for my needs right now is the new Honda 1000rr comfortable, reliable, fast(0-300kph in 20 seconds, i scare kids on hayabusas), good looking and allows me to blaze through the losail circuit at a pace that few cars(with professional drivers no less) will ever come close to.
