This has also probably been posted heaps of time before.
What do you need to do to get a permit to purchase alcohol and where is the shop - maybe someone could mark it on the Doha map?
Facts only appreciated - no moralisers please.

Novita, you said if:

"your RP/ID/Passport stated you are muslim ... u can't get any booze card"

Do they ask you to declare your religion when you apply for the RP? What ID were you referring to?

I read that employers can use the cards to track how much alcohol you buy.

Is this true?

A bit scary if so (privacy etc).

Things seem to have gone downhill over the past few years.

The last time I got one I got it the same day.

When QGPC had their own syndicate, we didn't need a licence, just approval from the DEM.

Novita, there are moslems with cards. It could be that your friends don't want to make it public that they drink.

if in your RP/ID/Passport stated you are muslim ... u can't get any booze card.

hv some muslim friends who drink ... and they can't get any booze, the only way out is tagging along with friends to buy booze.

USUALLY!!!!!!!!!!! Another girl in our office took 3 months. She's one of the ones that things didn't go right for.

That would be amazing! It took me about 5 weeks and that was considered fast.

USUALLY about 10 days. That's if everything goes right. If you know of anyone who has a receipt, the map is on the back of teh receipt.

Don't know of any alcoholics card. Alcoholics Anonymous does issue a coin for maintaing your sobriety.....why would you need or want a card stating your status of having a disease such as alcoholism?

Just screwing with your heading. Don is correct and the process is quite painless.

Hmmm- which personality is coming out today?

You need a letter from your employer stating your income and status. You need your residency permit. then you need to provide 1000 QR (its refundable)Its actually hard to find the first time. best to get another expat to go with you the first time.
