Accident

Hi Guys,

I know these questions have been asked a few times before as well, so sorry if i am wasting your time :)

I met with a small accident near hilal roundabout today morning. I was on the second lane and trying to take a left on the roundabout while the other person (Qatari) was on the first lane (leftmost). We both entered the roundabout and i was taking my left while he sped for his right and scratched my car (driver side door and bonnet).

We waited for 5 odd minutes for the police but since no one came we decided to go to the police station and here is where he fled away (no sign of his for kilometers). i couldn't take his phone number nor his car plate number.

i have given a police complain of the above incident and they have given me a letter and asked me to come after a week.

what is the purpose of these guys asking me to come after a week. Also, was it my fault and what about insurance.

sorry for the long post if anyone feels so :)

this is called (A complaint against unknown)usually as Routine the complaint takes one week then they will issue a police report in order to repair your car through the insurance company

It i sso critical in every round about here in doha especially when locals and annoying drivers at your sides, they turn their cars anywhere they want without any signals. They are not following rules at R/A just beacause of long cue behind.

thanks hawk. i have a third party insurance only. Also, i fully understand the roundabout rules as you said but the exit i have to take to come to the roundabout is less than 100 meters and hence the max i can manage is to go to the 2nd lane.

Also, the other person was trying to go straight from the leftmost lane which i guess is also wrong.

unfortunately, both of our front doors are hit (his right side and my driver side).

Sorry I will not be able to answer about the police letter but the rule in the round about is: If you want to take left Turn or U Turn, you should stay in the most left lane; If you want to go straight, stay in the middle and in the right lane for the right turn, you will never face any problem with the other cars.

The police normally imagine the touching area of the body of the cars if no body accept the fault:-

Like your car is touched in the rear half body and the other car's front half body is involved, then it is his fault. If your front half is involved with the rear half of the other car, then you are on the fault.

Anyway if you have full insurance, don't worry they will repair it for you.
