4WD- Should I go for Toyota LC or GMC Yukon

Tiramisu
By Tiramisu

I am looking to buy a 4WD SUV.
The attitude of Toyota dealer is as usual not upto the standard. Also the waiting time for 2009 Model is very long.
I test drove a Yukon and found it extremly pleasing. The price more or less is better for Yukon
The only thing which is bethering me is the maintainence and the re-sale. I checked in the previous forums and found little mention about maintainence cost and re-sale value.

I did a market research & observed that on Qatar Roads, the Yukon is more popular next to LC. I was alos told that the resale value of Yukon is close to an LC.

I need the guidence of this QL members since this is the first time I am planning an 4WD.

I personally do not prefer the 6 cylinder LC; its too pricey and sluggish, the V8 is tolerable. I just cant figure out what it is that they wanna charge us so much for! But yes, when you sell it you get back almost just as much as you paid for it when you bought it!

As for a style statement, I'd go for the Yukon/Tahoe anyday! Man, has it got attitude! Then again you have the issues of living with it on a daily basis; AC not cooling, engine over-heating, exorbitant prices for spares, falling apart after 2 yrs, etc. Also, you wouldn't get peanuts in resale after a few years of use!

Have you thought about the Nissan Patrol, gr8 performance, sufficient creature comforts and gr8 value for money!

Guys,

What about the Hummer? I have the same question here.

My friend just bought a Yukon like 2 months back and he is very satisfied with the car, it's smooth on the road, engine is powerful and the car is very spacious. His car is under warranty so he went for 1 check up until now and he says people there are friendly and you can get an appointment there within a week time. He says car parts and maintenance are more expensive than LC but it's still reasonable. The A/C in Yukon is very fine and I don't know really about the LC's A/C perhaps it's more powerful. The LC definitely is smoother off-road, and no car can beat Toyota in the resale value issue. Good luck.

If you want a huge barge with a ton of power go for the Yukon.

If you want a quality car with infinite reliability go for the LC

The Yukon has an incredible powerful engine, and is very luxurious, but for Qatar as said before u need a 4WD with a good AC and parts available everywhere. It is worth waiting for the 2009 Land Cruiser, and ofcourse has a better resale value than the GMC, its is just demanded more...

Whatever ur choice is, good luck and all the best wishes.

The 1st question to you is why you need a heavy/large SUV...suggested only ofcourse if you have a big family or you are a frequent long distance traveller.

Otherwise settle for a mid range SUV (Prado/Pathfinder/Pajero) best rated Pajero j. f.information.

Coming back to your original Qs

On the resale and performance the LC is always better out here.

Technically the Yukon is bigger engine to manage in all terms plus A/C not as good as LC. (A/C is all what you need out here; trust me)

The LC VXR 8Cylinder 4.7 engine (non leather and preferrably no moon roof) is ALL TIME BEST option....

Leadtime, should it be long, is worth it. However i heard you have to find your ways and they get you the cars quicker. (perhaps hidden in store etc).

Good Luck!!!
