What is the cost of living like in Doha?

I will be arriving very soon in Doha, and I was advised by the school that 1 person could live comfortably on 1500.00USD per month. Would this be correct or is it higher?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

here in Doha per month fees starting from 600QR to 20000QR per month so its depends what you would prefer for your child.
on emore exmaple...
ppl salary here starts from 700QR(labour) to 300000QR(QP top executives) per month and both are surving :) here happily.......
Completely depends on the person! 5460QR is the conversion...if your accommodation and car are paid for, then it's 'ok', but really depends on the life you want to live in Qatar and the amount of travelling you want to do. Foods not particularly cheap, and if you like nice restaurants and a few drinks, then the costs soon mount up! Car hire starts from 1800/month if you need it, otherwise taxis are cheap but obviously add up on a monthly basis. I think it's tight.
