soon this country will realize that their wealth is not unlimited.
soon they will pay top dollar for a worker to stay in Qatar.
excellent work... Hats off to you guys!
Thanx pappyk63, well alot of us are going to call these harsh conditions we migrant workers go through all sorts of names, be it modern slavery, advanced slavery and without a doubt thats exactly how it looks like but even then that we are faced with all these challenges like late payments, high costs of living and limited salaries (yet with so much to offer). Qatar is building a name to itself, in the GCC its one state that has actually displayed a small portion/ level of transparency but it is certainly not enough. we are not asking for much but simply a minimum wage so that we see to it that our children too can afford a good education, health care and a decent meal. its ultimately unfair to stand under this weather, sweat to pulp and at the end of the month walk off with 800 Qatar riyal for a salary, really???? I mean theres no special mall i walk into that gives a discount on food stuffs, we buy them at the same price with a rich national parking his trendy 2014 Bentley right outside mall. seriously little as it might be that the Government of Qatar sees us inject in its top wealth nation, we deserve atleast a reasonable pay. its not the billions of dollars that the government injects into these projects or the finest engineer or manager it asigns the job but me and my brothers who out of no qualifications, i managed to be quick at learning, diverse, powered in alot of passion and took every supervision quite seriously to be able to yield such result. Hes the thing, drive through the Corniche, as far as your eyes can see to the horizons are beautiful buildings, nice roads, flowers and a very safe city. i will tell you this for a fact....... its not just the money the government signs off to contractors in closed board meetings that makes this place unique and a fast developing nation but i the security guard who stands out in the sun to direct you car safe and watch over your valuables, that Indian/ Nepal guy who stands on a 50 floor building trying to fix the windows and that Filipino maid you leave right at your home to look after you lovely kids. Qatar can do better than it already does, they have the capacity to, all we need is a minimum wage, it can only be fair that way perhaps. Enough said, i guess am out of here.
[advance slavery] sorry my brother that is it just pray to God it will be ok
I am in total agreement this short film, in fact its actually icing on a cake being one of these so called workers here in Qatar. I hail from an African state, but even with my degree in Information Technology i find it extremely terrifying of the things i and the nice people am surrounded with have as a routine as our days turn into years of captivity. its not that we cant stand on our feet but what about the property we sold off to pay the agents who connected us to move here, leaving us with nothing back at home. with these fears we are faced to leave such traumatizing lives. we read about international bodies scrutinizing Qatar and our ways of lives but then it gets me wondering, how long must we live in bondage? How far must our faith stretch? i mean we can work under these tough and rough conditions coz thats what life has taught us to be but how about minimum wage and fair policies that not only segregate us but recognizes the services we offer to would be grate state of Qatar.
