The Doha Zoo will not be open to the public during the Eid al-Fitr holidays because of ongoing maintenance and renovation. A report in a local Arabic daily, quoting the zoo’s director, Hasan al-Muhannadi, said that it would take several months to complete the work. An official said the zoo was being renovated at a cost of QR200mn “so as to make it a world class tourist attraction”.
