Hello again Qatari74, I forgot to ask you if you neither hadn't heard of old stories, feats or legends attached to the Bedu culture. Thank you!

is it used here as a verb or what? lol.You mean how are they traditionS? I didnt get it sis!

Anyway I will answer this "Are they considered as an important part of their heritage?" you mean the traditions? lol, Anyway :People here are so "proud" of their backgrounds. Some times it gets OVER. In general people here take a good care of the old poems. Hummm, in some occasions they wear the very traditional kind of clothes. In celebrations, Like the Eid, every single wedding, and other festivals, men in larg numbers dance the very traditional kind of dancing "Arda" with the swords just like the old days!

Kala, Let me tell you something that I might be killed because of it lool. Yes , The bedu here, now, are very dear Qataris ,they are many and they difinatly are part of this country BUT they do not have a big part of the Heritage of Qatar. They came late to Qatar from Saudi Arabia. That's why I do not know much about their past in Qatar because they weren't exactly here. I, therefor, won't be able to answer your second question. However , It's a very known fact that women did do great job supporting men in wars in the islamic history. This is beeing tought to kids at schools here in Qatar.

Hi again, Kala!

Glad that you found what I said useful.

Regarding to your questions:

"How are the Bedu and Pearl Divers traditions by the new generations in Qatar?" I'm sorry my English is not so good.I didn't understand that. "traditions"

Thank you very much Aisha! What you said explains why I have found it so difficult to find information on the subject...

If it's not asking too much, I would have two more questions for you:

- How are the Bedu and Pearl Divers traditions by the new generations in Qatar? Are they considered as an important part of their heritage?

- I have read that in the old days, Bedu women were sometimes accompanying men to war to encourage them. Is that fact known to today's Qataris?

Once again thanks a lot and Happy New Year!

Hello Kala,

Well, new generations have a really poor knowledge of old Qatar's myths and legends. I have books about that but they are in Arabic and it's difficult to translate .Whoever, I assure you that they are not that deep or carry that much of meaning. They were used as stories to tell kids just to kill time or kinda intertainment. Some of them are really scary lol but thay are not like "real" things , you know.I don't think that people really did "believe" in them.People back there was living a very simple life and they didn't interact with people from other worlds (What they see(few)was all what they know) so the myths\stories were kinda simple and innocant , straightforward and few.Maybe just to add a touch of "action" to the everyday life .

My grandpa was a pearls-diver, butI don't recall him telling us any kinda "legends".They are not like the greek ones lol, just very short storyies and songs that people do not count much on.

That's my opinion :-)
