Qatar cost of living and lifestyle.

Hi to everyone,

I have a job offer that in my country would be a great offer, however I'm not sure if it would be as good based on the cost of living in Doha, Qatar. It would be as follows.

Salary: 18,000.00 Qr. ,Housing: 10,000.00 Qr. ,Transportation: 1,500.00 Qr. ,Utilities: 700.00 Qr.

With some extras, would be a total of: 37,000.00 Qr. a month.

Our goal is to have an approapiate quality of life (not glamorous) and still be able to save some money. I would also appreciate an insight of the living, activities, and opportunities of getting a masters, or some kind of degree my wife would have if I'm going to be traveling 3 or 4 days a week, basically, if she is going to have a rought time if she is going to be by herself quite often.

Thank you so much.

The cost breakdowm given by Geechee_bu is great and accurate!  You may wish to use it for your budgetting. Your salary package is quite good since you say that it's mush more than what you earn in your country.  Perhaps you could check the pay package for pilots in the Gulf region before deciding your next move. All the best!

Sorry for hijacking your thread ...

I also got an job offering in Qatar and offer included:

Salary ~28000

Housing ~12000

Company car or 2500QR per month

Utilities paid

So it sounds reasonably good, only thing that worries me is the inflation, salary might be good now but how about after 2-3 years ? I need only a small apartment since Im single so what kind of standard I can get with that kind of money (1BR enough).

That is a great salary IMO. If I had that I wouldn't turn it down.

How Are you doing mate...good I hope...

Alright here is the deal...

QR 37,000/- is quite a good enough package to come here and save just about more than a bit...As much as I say that your salary is quite good, your housing seems to be on the lower side...however, you still can find a place with that QR 10,000 or a bit less...but that would have to be a say a Fully Furnished 2 B/R apt in a good place, but surely not a compound with all amenities...this is a compromise that you might have to make, having said that, I would reassure that you would be able to find good infact beautiful 2 B/R FF, Apts in good locales, with good furnishing quality and nice living conditions...

And the rest about how to lead your life is your pocket, but still, things are on the slighlty side compared to a few other places in the world, but still your salary is good to cater to those needs, doesn't or rather didn't sound to me like you have any kids, b'cos thats another thing that can eat into your wages, so tilll you get that you are quite free and relaxed I guess...LOL... ! ! !

And third, speaking about the lifesyle, mate, there are a good enough, health clubs, golf clubs, spas, beauty parlours, Movies, Pubs, and decent options of entertainment available here, and they're quite relaxed about it (they as in the Govt. Authorities- dont drink and drive that's all)...

And speaking of Masters, there is only 1 place as of now in Qatar that gives you a Masters, which is the Qatar University, so you might give it a shot there as to what are the options available for your Wifey...

If she is still bored, there are our lovely QL ladies, who could give her some good company...

Cheers...and take care buddy...
