police at vegetable market

my husband used to make weekly visits to the Vegetable Market in Abu Hamour but for the past two weeks the fruit section is off limits to individual customers. This week they actually had police standing there stopping anyone trying to get in.
Now we are forced to buy from the normal vendors at market price.Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and whether thi is temporary or permanant.
Its quite a shame as the fruit we used to buy there was fresh and quite inexpensive compared to the supermarkets and other vendors.

You need to read the local newspapers more often :). It is a new rule - only tnose with a valid ID (wholesalers are issued an ID) will be allowed to enter.

The place is offlimits to everyone else at all times.

It's a permanent new rule that the Ministry of Business and Trade has impelmented in May 2011 and it was published in the local newspapers.Only whole sale is allowed there no retail.
