life style

I would like to know what kind of life style I could expect to live in in Qatar if my monthly income is a little over 9000qar???

We are looking to relocate and I need to know what I can expect. I will be moving from the eastern part of the United States.

What is the difference between a compound and Flat? My husband and I are considering moving here from the United States and have no idea what to expect and how to go about finding a safe and nice place to live. When reading what they have for rent in the classifieds I am informed that the flats have (cleaning stuff) what does that mean? Do they use washers and dryers?

it seems to me that you dont know much about Qatar and i will do my best to answer your questions. i am a Qatari but lived most of my life abroad (been in Virginia, USA for 5 years). First, as for the salary of 9,000 it will be sufficient depending on your lifestyle and what benefits your employer is planning to give you. Is your employee paying for your accomidation? if you have kids, are they paying for thier schooling? things like that. As for the accommidation, if i am not mistaken a flat is an apartment and a compound includes several villas surrounded by a wall (kinda like one block that is private) and almost all compounds have a club house and a swimming pool. Qatar is a modern country you will be able to find washers and dryers every where you go; however, most people here have servants. finnaly, you should know Qatar is a very safe place, so you dont have to worry about that; we barely have any crimes here and everyone gets along. i hope i was helpful.

I'm assuming that on top of the QAR 9,000.00 you mentioned. You also have a housing allowance, car allowance and etc. Housing rental cost in Qatar can be very painful.

If NOT....you better RE-NEGOTIATE!

As for the classifieds mentioning cleaner. It actually means that they provide a cleaner boy to clean your place on some time interval.

Dishwashers and Dryers are available but you need to check and confirm with the housing agent when you go into a tenancy agreement.

Good Luck!

hi there!!! 9000Qatari riyals both of you?? In doha its very difficult to live with this salary if you want to save money as well.. !!!! if accomodation its not inclued on the salary very difficult...

Compound is a group of villas inside a closed area.. Usually comes with shared facilities such as swimming pools, gym etc..This type of accommodation is a little expensive.. like 7000-8000 riyals monthly!! so if you are earning 9000 imagine!!

The flats are big buildings.. for one flat you may need 5000 to 6000..

other option is to share a room in a villa but you need to live with other people sharing kitchen, living room around 3000 to 4000 riyals.. accomonddation here very expensive..

Monthly expenses for 2 people depends on your life style is around 3000-5000riyals without clothes shopping, luxury etc..

So before you come consider that 9000 for both of you its not enough living in doha and save money as well..

Good luck!!!!
