In 2009 FEB exactly someone took and posted photos here of padlocked fire exists at Villagio a lot was said and suggestions were made but did anyone tell the Civil Defence or MOI…
I don’t know, if so was anything done????
Let’s just say based on Monday’s events NO!!!!!
Coz if anybody bothered to look into the matter then they would at least notice that there is a nursery there and plus everything else that went wrong on Monday….
And need I mention that if there was a fire at Pauls as Novita77 has said then clearly they just put the fire out and carried on with life as usual “am almost sure that they don’t know what caused that fire at Pauls and if so they just wrote them up for a fine and carried on with life as normal…..

Now I hear arrest warrants have been issued but is anything going to be really done or is it just a way to shut pple like me up, so I can think something about the cause of the fire is been done.

Kuwari continues to be detained for questioning….????????????????

He added that the reason Gympanzee was not licensed through the Ministry of Social Affairs is because it is not a nursery…………..IS THIS SUPPOSED TO MAKE THE PARENT OF THE DEAD KIDS FEEL ANY BETTER???????

“It’s always been an activity centre,” he said. “A nursery involves school. ..(this) is like a baby-sitting thing.”……. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN IN ENGLISH????

In that regard, Gympanzee held all the commercial permits it needed, he said, including approval from the Civil Defense Department three weeks ago…….BUT YET THEY CLAIM NOT HAVE KNOWN ABOIIUT THE NUSERY “BABY-SITTING THING”BEEN THERE” WERENT THEY SUPPOSED TO SEE IT 1ST BEFORE APPROVING IT?????

The relative also called attention to the various obstacles firefighters encountered during the rescue effort, including malfunctioning sprinkler systems, lack of emergency lighting and the unavailability of floor plans…….WHICH SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN AWARE OF BEFORE AND DURING THE TIME SHE OPENED A NUSERY “BABY-SITTING THING” THERE

“We know there is an investigation going on and we don’t want to undermine it…(but) this is to give a full picture,” he said……THE FULL PICTURE I SEE HERE IS HER TRYING TO WASH HERSELF OFF ANY BLAME……

The daycare centre at Doha’s Villagio mall where 13 children and four staff were killed on Monday was licenced as a “centre for children’s amusement and to sell women’s garments…………………….AGAIN WHAT DOES THIS MEAN IN ENGLISH COZ I NEVER SAW AN SELL OF ANY GARMENT WHEN I WAS THERE????????????

As I would expect they would have a control room and somebody monitoring the cameras “that we all know are there” that would have been of some help in alerting everyone as soon as the fire was noticed…

Security guard????? “have you tried to ask them any question” the common answer I get it “me new here” (meaning I have no idea of what you are talking about all I have been instructed to do is stand here and stop some poor looking pple from entering the mall otherwise I will be sent home without any pay….

WHY NO BODY TALKING ABOUT THE SECURITY GUARDS IN THE MALL

I THINK IT'S THEM DUTY TO EVACUATE THE MALL, WHERE THEY WERE, WHAT THEY DID?????? 0

WHERE IS THE CONTROL ROOM WHY THEY HAVE CAMERAS JUST FOR RECORDING OR WHAT???

I am sure the "LABOURERS" would have done a better job if they were there at the moment---a far better job than the "trained" group of individuals..

In the article on this thread there are survivors from the fire claiming that when they tried to leave, emergency doors were locked - so this wasn't just a problem in 2009, but was still happening in 2012:

http://qatarliving.com/node/3025503

More shocking is the suggestion that the doors are locked TO STOP LABORERS ENTERING.

Are we now being told that "family day" - protecting our precious malls from those that built them - might end up costing our lives in the event of a fire?

That's sick.

id like to point out that the door entrances at the computer stores in Mecury hotel (used to be Sofitel hotel) the doors/double doors, the other side is tied up with wires to remained closed. I don't know what's the deal, are they trying to control the people coming in or what. But if there's going to be fire broke up at the Mercury hotel, people will be stranded inside cause they can only used one door instead of two.

its juts a matter of putting right people in the position. im not sure if people in the position knows what is right and what is just =(

the day before the fire broke out, we were in Villagio and something of that sort already happened in TGIF, that means no one bothered to really check the cause of the situation, faulty wirings? negligence? etc? did they do something to prevent big fire to happen when they already had small fire situation?!! seems NOT!
