Increase in rents

Has anyone experienced the same?

The last few weeks I was in search for a good accommodation only to find the difference from the last time I did the same in September last year. What I find mostly is advertisements for Shared accommodation, shared villa, partitioned villa. The few flats I have had a look at and termed as so called new construction have rooms so tiny that two people can't move freely. Is the quality of living changing in Qatar? Or is it a new business strategy to reduce floor area for the same rents?

Talking about Fully furnished places, the furniture is age old...

I was also thinking is there a body that governs the rental value of places? I know that all rental contracts need to be attested?

I know that real estate in Qatar is a demand driven market, but the rentals need to be governed at some point and also it will be expected to get the quality for the amount we pay.

Any comments???

i too have been searching for the last few months....i require a 2 bed and 2 bath (with one bath attached to the master bedroom)and nowhere in Doha have i found such an accomodation and as acid123 says " What I find mostly is advertisements for Shared accommodation, shared villa, partitioned villa. The few flats I have had a look at and termed as so called new construction have rooms so tiny that two people can't move freely."

i have seen my share of shared accomodations which the agents term as "SUPER and you will not get anything else for this price(i.e 5000-6000 QAR)". also the flats which i have seen are old ones and so badly maintained that even if i moved in it wouldn't be worth it cause i was told that they wouldn't maintain. it doesn't mean that all are the same i have also seen beautiful new flats in bin mahmoud area. the only problem is if i put a bed(lets say a bit smaller than queen size) in one room there will be no space to walk properly, in fact the rooms were so small that if i get out of the bed it will be directly to the attached toilet or out of the room!!! and the rent for this flat was 6500 QAR....this flat was beautiful...it had a large hall nice kitchen 3 toilets(of which 2 were attached to the bedrooms!!!).

this is just pathetic....oh and something else i find is if i find a building to be good in any area and i just go in to ask if there are any flats for rent i'll be told " Sorry Sir. This is Qatar Airways Accomodation.".

i have gotten so many of these replies now that i can identify a QA accomodation a mile away....if you want to know these are flats with the G4 security stationed outside and the building will be highlighted with mostly yellow lights or you can identify it by the security.

now i'm not saying that they cannot stay....

there are soooo many buildings over here and rents are 6500 -9000 for a 2 bedroom flat and that too for the above described old ones!!!!

i have lots to says but i'm stopping cause i'm fed up....

ue to this Qatar is loosing its attraction quickly, If you go to UAE or any other GCC you always get what you pay.

But here things have gone worst, no body cares about any thing what these bastards real state agents are doing.

the living standard has come too low, if it continues like this God knows what will be the situation when Fifa 2022 comes in.

After taking every single thing into an account FIFA general body is now thinking to take back the host of 2022 from QATAR and its not a scam news.

The landlords need to make a living as well, it costs a lot to build these properties.

You are right, I agree with you. I too had been searching a 2 bedroom semi furnished flat in doha(muntaza, mansoura areas) but no luck. Had been to few flats through ads in QL, agents who demand 1/2 month agency commision. But the flats they show are such that like a match box and if it is a furnished one, the furniture are old and extensively used. 2 bedroom what we get these days (UF 5500+ and FF 6000+). I am still searching and no luck on my way until now.
